In truth, I would give 4.5 stars but can't. That doesn't mean I'm going to cost them a whole star either.
I've been to this Deli 3 times in the past year, 2 of those times the week of June 13. It's about 2 blocks from my house, and as has been noted in several other reviews, their prices are super customer friendly. The first time I went, I got a pastrami on rye sandwich, and I think a bottled beverage. It was a Saturday, the weather was great, so I walked across the street to Veteran's park to have a nice outside lunch. It had been a while since I had pastrami, and the sandwich was excellent.
The second time I went, I got the Godfather, a pound of macaroni salad, and 32 oz. lemonade. The sandwich was amazing, they are NOT playing around with the amount of garlic in that sandwich, and that's perfect because for me, there is no such thing as too much garlic. The macaroni salad is the best I have ever bought. The veggies were crunchy and fresh, the sauce was both sweet and tangy (I'm very certain there's vinegar in there), and was well worth the purchase. The lemonade was super tart - like zero sweetener tart. It tasted freshly made though. I found out why it was tart. Despite my stirring, all the sugar was caked on the bottom.
The third time (again, same week), I decided to try their Italian sandwich, Like with the garlic in the Godfather, they do not mess around with how much ham they put in that sandwich. I personally felt that the ham sort of overpowered everything else in the sandwich, but I do not regret the selection. I got a pound of their potato salad. I personally didn't love it, but I did like it enough to eat the rest of it the next day. The lemonade was again super tart, so this time I used a butter knife to really stir it. No change. I added some liquid sweetener in, and it came out better, and when I was finished, there was no sugar in the bottom of the container.
So their sandwiches are definitely on point so far, macaroni salad is amazing, potato salad is...ok, and I might try their coleslaw since it got such great reviews. Their lemonade was a disappointment, and that's where I would have detracted a half star, but hey, no one's forcing me to buy it! Also, their staff is super friendly - not like clingy/ creepy friendly, just wholesomely polite, some small talk,...
Read moreI ordered delivery and never received the order. I called and the man I spoke to was rude, condescending and acted like it was my fault I didnât get my lunch. The fact remains if you order food and pay a tip the expectation is it should be delivered to the person who ordered it. In this case it was hung on a door in the wrong building and blamed me because I should have explained how addresses work in a complex of townhouses. I paid for food I never received! I order delivery other places and never have had this issue. If that guy who I spoke to is the owner he isnât doing his business any favors by speaking to customers the way he spoke to me. Sadly, I do not recommend this place and I never leave reviews like this but was a...
Read moreI live in Emerson just a town away from Flynnâs. Once upon a time we had a deli called Shortrounds. Blew my top off. Long story short Shortrounds stopped their brick and mortar business and I was afraid I wouldnât find a good deli again. Flynnâs is the best Iâve had in New Jersey. The employees are all very personable and kind and the sandwiches⌠i donât even know what to say. If you live in New Jersey and are paying for a sandwich at jersey mikes instead of going to a real New Jersey deli youâre out...
