First off, one thing to understand, this is more a tapas bar, not a full restaurant. They have a sign at the front limiting accesss to people 19+ because of licensing restrictions. That said, you can get a wonderful meal and have a full complement of wines and beer to go along with it. Entrees and sides are ordered separately. Cost for two adults drinking adult beverages (4 drinks between the two of us), with dessert was right at $150.00 before taxes and tip.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience; our server, Savannah, was great! Savannah answered all my questions and even made some suggestions. We started with the Shrimp Scampi Dip, which was shrimp in cream sauce, more an alfredo than a scampi, which came with seasoned foccaccia. The foccaccia was a tad oversalted, but overall delicious.
We then split a wedge salad, which had a buttermilk dressing and pickled onions. Just perfect for a bit of freshness before the main course.
My wife had the Short Rib Pasta Alfedo off the "Small Dishes" menu. I had the Sirloin with mashed potatoes on the side. Both were quite tasty, with my wife absolutely raving about the pasta. I ordered my steak medium rare, and it came out beautifully. Lovely and tender, just about perfect, I had the Taste butter as my sauce; next time I may choose something a bit heartier, perhaps the mushroom cream or chimichurri sauces.
For dessert we had the pecan bread pudding. Served hot in a cast iron skillet, with a caramel-pecan sauce overthe top, it was a perfect way to end a meal; I only wish I had ordered a coffee to go with it.
Overall, Taste at the Fain is a great place for an upscale meal. I do wish they had a more extensive menu, perhaps more "small dishes" in the tapas style, or a more extensive selection of entrees, but all in all, a fine addition to Wetumpka's growing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came in an hour after the posted opening time. I was greeted with very polite service and seated immediately. I asked my waiter for his opinion on a particular wine. I was given the popular āthereās not a bad oneā response just meaning he didnāt know. Because I asked he brought the bottle to the table and I was allowed to taste test first.šš» The menu is clear and simple. I ordered the seared salmon. It was perfect, topped it with the black garlic mushroom sauce. Side of mixed vegetables. They were on par. Ordered the seared scallops over jalapeƱo corn. Corn was good but I donāt like the combination. Two scallops over corn. Iād suggest 3 scallops only topped with whatever sauce and garnish, and for the love of God the only food complaint I have is scallops MUST be seared on both sides equally. Mine were perfect on top and barely touched on the bottom most likely because most people donāt check or notice. I got the blueberry cobbler cheesecake for dessert. It wasnāt house made which isnāt a deal breaker however, Iād suggest adding some FRESH blueberries to the plate and garnish with peppermint sprig. I got a refill of wine and it finished the bottle. Itās ok to add the remainder of the bottle but the server should hold the bottle to the light first and insure there is no unpleasant sediment in the bottom. There wasnāt but itās safe practice. Two male staff members loitered in the dinning area the majority of the time I was eating. Thatās a big no no. Overall I thought it was without a doubt one of the best dining experiences you will find in the tri-county area. This is a must stop and try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTwo visits and we are SOLD!!!!! On our first visit the mom at the chocolate counter was an absolute gem. She introduced us to several chocolates that we hadnāt tried before and welllllllllā¦..we bought each one, and more. Our second visit was an anniversary celebration. Zach, the manager on duty, made our day with the smallest use of a heart shaped ramekin. For me, small touches make all of the difference in an experience and that small detail brought a tear to my eyes, and joy to my heart. I have fallen in love with every bit of this place, itās a small peace of heaven for me and I sincerely love everything about it. We are excited about the renovation, but in just 2 visits I hate to see anything change because we love it as is. The owners are sweet people and we wish them nothing but the best moving forward. I donāt know how we are supposed to live for 3 months without this new found love of ours, but we will be counting down the days and watching FaceBook for the Re-Grand Opening event. We canāt wait!!!!! Congratulations, and please re-open soon.
Oh, the foodā¦ā¦ ABSOLUTELY DELISH! Our Custom Board was gorgeous and tasty. The Lemonade Renegade, a sweet lemon-based wine, cleanses the pallet very well allowing every bite of our meat and cheese selections to taste like the very first bite. I could write a small book about our dining experience, but Iād rather you give it a try for yourself. To date you have 2 days before they close for 3 months so hurry up! Just uhhhh leave the chocolates for me, those are mineā¦ā¦.please, and thank you. Respectfully, Taste at The Fainsā...
