We had a table of ten. Our waitress, Jess, was clearly unorganized. Us kids shared bills with our parents, so there were separate checks. When first taking our orders for drinks, my sister had gotten a shirley temple and a water. Upon returning, Jess had forgotten both and instead dropped off a lemonade at the table that no one had ordered. It took my sister three times asking to finally get her water, and even then, it was delivered to the wrong person. Aside from the drinks, Jess had left our table even with two people still left unaccounted for. She came back, however, only a few minutes later.
Food-wise, everything was fine. Aside from my sister’s buffalo mac and cheese, which looked half-eaten (I quite literally could see the bottom), and was lukewarm. My mother’s Vermont burger didn’t even come out until half an hour later. And Jess didn’t even check up on the tables to see if anyone would like a refill, even when nearly all of our cups were empty. Actually, she only came by once, but that was at the end of our eating—and she didn’t even take any empty plates.
Now, the worst part was the billing. At first, we had a big check, but it shouldn’t have been in the first place since we stated at the beginning that we’d need separate checks. But on the check, there was an extra Vermont burger, an extra order of chicken tenders, and an extra side of fries. We pointed this out, and Jess said she’d delete them, as well as my mother’s late burger. It took around twenty minutes for her to split everything, and even then it wasn’t much better.
My mom’s burger was still there. Jess also said she’d delete all the drinks, instead keeping the extra tenders on there since the price of the meal was the equivalent of the drinks. It was another half hour of going back and forth, deleting stuff and moving other items around, but it was still mostly wrong. All the while, the manager hadn’t even tried to help Jess, nor us. Only poking her head out at one point before disappearing again.
The only time she’d actually be at the table was when the head our table—a woman who I forgot the name of—saw her and called her over. Immediately off the bat, the manager (Judy) was aggressive and mean towards us, snapping, “So tell me what you want me to do”, and even going do far to make a suggestive comment that this was our fault for wanting to split the check different ways. Jess was kind about it, but Judy was not, even when given a simplistic explanation. It was as if Judy was expecting us to be rude.
Finally, Judy was able to transfer an item off one check to another, as well as deleted another (I believe) that could have been adjusted in the first place. But still, my mother had paid for the Vermont burger she was told would be comped, my and my sister’s meals were deleted, and another tab had two extra meals no one had gotten. It was an extremely long process of repetitive errors that could have been resolved if Judy had been out there to help in the first place.
I work in a restaurant, and if I acted in the manner either Judy or Jess did tonight, I’d be fired. Jess was seemingly untrained, despite her being here a while. Though I suppose she was simply not prepared nor ready to take a table as big as ours. She kept asking people what their orders were, drinks and food alike, and was overall very slow-spoken. I understand if she was overwhelmed, but adding extra items despite writing down the orders in her pad just didn’t make sense to me, nor the inability to get the correct drinks for people on time. Now as for Judy, she shouldn’t be a manager. She was outright rude to our table, like she expected the worst when she came over.
I will not be returning here. Nor are the rest of the people I was with. This restaurant needs a serious employee check—there was even a point where the dishwasher had to come out to clear plates. This franchise used to be amazing, both service and food-wise. Now it’s all run by people who don’t know what they’re doing, and the food is all but mediocre. This needs...
Read moreHonestly it's Friendly's. Its the place kids go and learn how to go out to eat, and older kids have their first restaurant job. The hard working waitstaff manage a super busy, super budget restaurant with grace. I took my younger 12 year old cousin and his friend here after going to Barretts Haunted Mansion and we ordered 2 lemonades and 3 ice creams. Having worked at a Friendly's I know the waitress had to make our ice creams. They were great with genourous "sides" of toppings in the bottom of a cup for them to dip their cones in. It was also a warm day and the ice cream window was very busy, but off season the waitresses were covering that too, not too mention the amount of take out which has taken off since the pandemic. There were multiple large parties of families and young teens and the waitresses at one point managed to sing happy birthday together to one table. "My" two kids were full from McDonald's before the mansion, they just wanted to get to stay out late and so we stayed almost an hour slowly eating our desserts. Then the bill came. THIRTEEN DOLLARS. At 20 percent the waitress has done all this during the time I saw her for $2.60 plus her miniscule hourly from the restaurant. And then people are going online giving this place bad reviews? Cmon. I wish I could have left more (I tipped 10 dollars) but please at least appreciate the institution that is Friendly's and the hard work of the staff that are...
Read moreWe ordered delivery through their website which then gets delivered through DoorDash. When our order arrived and we opened it once inside, we realized we were given the incorrect order. We immediately tried to call the DoorDash driver back as it had only been seconds since he had given us the food and he ignored our three phone calls.
We called the South Weymouth Friendly’s to see what we could do about this. The woman on the phone (we unfortunately forgot to get a name) was incredibly helpful and knew who we were immediately as the people who had received our order had already contacted them. She gave us three options: we could reorder through the website to have it redelivered and they would give us a code to comp it; they would remake it and we could come and pick it up; or they would give us a full refund.
We chose to have them remake it and we would pick it up. She asked us to just give them about 15-20 minutes to make it. When my fiancé arrived to pick it up, the food was ready for us and they made sure to double check that everything was there before giving it to us.
We really appreciate how quick they were at helping us resolve this tonight. Especially as they were not the ones that made the mistake,...
