Warning..long story, long post...so I rented out the function room for my son's 1st birthday for a 50 person party estimate. The manager I spoke to was really friendly and the place seemed ideal and fit our budget. She told us as long as we hit the minimum with food and drinks, the room/event fee would be waived. We went ahead and gave them the deposit to book the room months before the event (we booked in December for the event in February). We set the date and let her know we'll need to arrive a couple of hours early to decorate and set up. She said okay. Throughout the time before the event, my husband constantly tried to get into contact with the manager to confirm other details for the event to make sure everyone was on the same page (e.g. menu selection, decor rules, cleaning responsibility, bar details, etc). It was extremely difficult getting these details. There was so much back and forth of phone tag. We would call the restaurant and the manager would never be there. So the front desk would need call the manager so she can call us back to answer any questions. No one else at the restaurant can provide the details for the function room. It was weeks of phone tag. We were finally able to place the food order a week before event. Fine okay.
A few days before the event, I was being paranoid so I told my husband to call and confirm the event and the menu selection. Once again, it was a game of phone tag. We finally received confirmation the day before the event. It sounded like she had just put in the order in that night. Seemed extremely last minute in my opinion.
The day of the event arrives. We had told them the event will start at 1pm when we first booked. They told us we can come to the restaurant when it opens to decorate but we cannot come earlier than that. Restaurant opens at 11:30am. My husband and SIL got to the restaurant around 12 to set up. The restaurant did not let them in to set up until 12:45. We had 15 minutes left before event. When they were finally let in, the place was a HUGE mess. Decorations from the previous event were scattered everywhere. There were confetti everywhere on the floor. Looked like nothing was cleaned or reset to prepare for my event at all. The restaurant and manager seemed completely unprepared for our arrival. My family had to sweep and break down all the previous decor ourselves. The restaurant was absolutely no help with that process. We had to rush to clean up and decorate before our guests arrived. The only good thing I can say was that the food was ready exactly at 1pm but how can we put out the food if the place was in a complete mess? They also did not provide warmer candles for the trays food so it was left out at room temp throughout the event. I understand that the restaurant would not help/provide decorations but I would assume they would have the room reset before we arrived.
Now it's time to pay for event. They did not give us our deposit back or applied it to the final bill. The manager said the deposit was considered the room/event fee. But we were originally told that if we spent the minimum with food and drinks, this will be waived. We spent way over the minimum. So she basically lied to us.
It was very unfortunate that we had such a terrible experience getting this...
Read moreFood is alright, portion is kind of small considering the price. The worst is the service. Served by a tall lady wearing leggings with inpatient and contemptuous face all the time. There was zero service throughout the dining, all waiters seemed disappeared - Oh I see they were busy serving the Non Chinese guests with full face of sunny smiles we never expected 1/10 of, great! What’s more ridiculous, when they hand us the bill, we realized one dish’s price is higher than what’s on the menu, the leggings lady arrogantly said “we have the right to modify the price” (“我们有权修改价格”). Everything was just so great, worth the 1 star rating. Would give ZERO if I could.
…………………………………………………………… Hi, the clownish owner:
Thanks for your loooong and entertaining response, I really appreciate your dedication trying to fight back every bad review instead of sparing some to serve the guests well.
First, thanks for the hearty hot water and “allowing” us extra time looking at menu. Do you know why we need extra time? It’s because what we wanted to order was not available. It’s not until we ask to know there were more items unavailable. And, I do feel sorry for your struggle trying to find what few services you actually provided and realized you have to claim this “allowing extra time” as the credit.
Second, about Chinese guests bias. There was an American couple sitting in front of us, I bet you would feel much less struggle when naming the services you provided to them: sunny smile, chatty tongues, attentive service throughout their dinning and warm “thank you” closing their bill. Meanwhile we were out of water and napkins, who ever came to help? All waiters disappeared since serving the first dish until we asked for the bill. We understand the biased services because many Chinese restaurants do so, but they at least hold the bottom line of service.
Third, what is the bottom line? That comes the price discrepancy dispute. We understand the price on the menu could be outdated, we also paid the higher actual price, but what is “we have the right to amend the price” with contemptuous attitude? Maybe we should feel sorry for not being aware of the outdated menu even though you handed to us and for not knowing your SUPREME right to alter the price without any notice. We are sorry for wasting your time explaining to us. Then with mutual respect that you had frequently mentioned in your response, you should feel delighted with the 1 star review because it’s actually a 5 star review in the inverse world :)
Finally, again we appreciate your long excuses, that would definitely help more guests realize how arrogant and deceptive your...
Read moreI really hate to have so much negativity to say but this was by far the worst experience I have had in a restaurant . From the moment we walked we were looked at weirdly but unfortunately we proceeded to sit down .. we were rushed to order and once we ordered our food it was out in less than 5 mins we ordered a chicken fiend rice for our table and and orange chicken and a few appetizers. I believe the food was most likely already cooked sitting around and warmed up because it did not taste fresh at all ! Pieces of the orange chicken wasn’t fully cooked and was chewy with weird texture . When my ramen came out it was not hot that too tasted like it’s been sitting around and was attempted to be warmed up , ramen is supposed to be hot and the broth tasted very strange; I am a ramen lover it this was like nothing I’ve ever tasted before I wouldn’t be surprised if something extra was thrown in there with the way it tasted . When I told the waiter about the food she rolled her eyes and ignored me and said nothing further to fix the issue . We were treated very poorly I hate to say this but we are a black family and I’m not sure if it was a racism thing going on but no one deserves to be treated like that everything was poor quality and I won’t recommend anyone to eat here . Please do better my stomach is still hurting from the food and I just thought it was important that others beware of this establishment....
