The Weymouth Starbucks renovation was undoubtedly a big improvement to the facility. I have been a regular Starbucks drinker for 10+ years and as someone who has traveled quite extensively I have likely been to thousands of locations. The changes made to the physical layout of the Weymouth location has drawn me back more frequently since the summer of 2024. It is now a pleasant place to sit and relax with friends, to sit alone and read a book, or to sit and focus on some necessary work whichever seems to be the priority of the given day. My only real criticism of the choices that were made during the renovation is that whoever chose the material used for the bench seating made a mistake. The leather cushioning is way too firm and most other locations have a much softer leather. I'm guessing this was a budgetary decision, but who knows. Either way, they should consider this easily fixable upgrade. As for the staff in Weymouth, I have found them to be excellent. They are attentive to detail and seem pleasant. Some of the familiar faces have taken the time to learn my name. And for anyone out there criticizing any barista for "messing up" their coffee, well then they need to learn 2 things: (1) mistakes are gonna happen, and (2) it's just coffee, bruh....Weymouth is Two Thumbs...
Read moreI ordered ahead through the app, a coffee and a sandwich. When I got to the store I was handed my coffee and a gift card/store credit. I was told they were out of the sandwich (then why could I order it?) and that I could use the card to order a different one. I didn’t want a different one and I didn’t have time to go through the ordering and waiting process as I was on my way to work (that’s why I ordered on the app). I didn’t have time to complain about receiving a gift card and not my money back.
Starbucks very obviously has the technical capability of refunding your card or cash if necessary, but they choose not to because you’ve already spent that money there and they don’t want to give it back. They know customers who order ahead are on their way to work and don’t have time to stand around and wait or argue about this crappy practice.
I have gone back to Starbucks once since this and it was only to get my free drink. When you don’t have the product that was promised you should either automatically refund the method used to purchase that product or you should ask the customer their preference. Every so often drinks we order consistently are not made correctly and when you call to address it, there’s no accountability and an apology may follow only after repeating that what you ordered is not what you received. At end of a complaint they will say “well the next time you come in, let us know and we’ll make you another drink.” When you ask how that will be assured as the staff are different depending on when you go, “oh well let our team know.” The reviews aren’t consistent with the experience here. -Poor customer service -Inconsistent quality of drinks -Poor ambience -Poor workflow given location setting being in the middle of a small retail plaza.
