Stunning location and kind workers, but the drinks did not taste good…
As a long time customer of the Schamburg location, I decided to try this place out since I wanted to support their business.
Their Schamburg location never misses. My go to menu is Pineapple milk with milk pudding, matcha strawberry with milk pudding, and cookies and cream milk tea with matcha & yes, milk pudding. I looove their milk pudding lol! I also liked their rose milk tea, and have tried multiple other drinks. I usually do no ice which has never been a problem, it tasted delicious regardless.
I ordered my go to orders, pineapple milk & cookies and cream milk tea with matcha, both with milk pudding. My mom drank the pineapple milk while I drank the cookies & cream matcha milk tea.
My drink tasted like I was drinking crumbled up cookies and matcha powder, and water, no milk,,, Idk how to explain. I think the worker put way too much matcha because the drink looked suuuper dark and yes there’s oreo cookies in it so it is a dark drink but I saw a lot of matcha powder at the bottom of the drink that was not mixing at all. I tried stirring a lot but it wasn’t mixing. I also saw some water..? As I was mixing the drink so I’m confused. Isn’t it a milk tea? Sadly it did not taste good. It tasted like water and milk mixed together + bunch of cookies and matcha powder. I couldn’t taste the milk pudding at all, and I could not finish the drink.
My mom didn’t like the pineapple milk either. She said it tastes different from the Schamburg location. She took 2 sips and didn’t want to drink anymore.
Overall the store is so stunningly beautiful and the workers are kind but there needs to be more training on the drink making. We couldn’t finish our drinks due to taste and there’s more than half left. $16 for 2 undrinkable drinks is so sad and disappointing. Currently not worth my money. I will stick to the...
Read moreMaybe I just went on an off night but I paid almost $8 for what was essentially sweetened milk. I ordered the matcha milk tea, and I’ve gotten it at the Schaumburg location many times before. The drink I was expecting was supposed to have the brown colored black milk tea layered with matcha on top. Okay, the recipe may have changed — but the drink shown in the photo was exactly what was handed to me. No vibrant matcha layer, just vaguely green milk all mixed together. And it doesn’t even taste like matcha in the slightest. It wasn’t even filled to the top — I know my image shows that I drank some, but there was legit like an inch gap between the drink and the lid.
I also got the star honeydew milk tea for my sibling. This drink comes with jelly in it, but I didn’t know, and proceeded to ask for another topping in it, and was charged for the extra topping. Only AFTER I paid was I informed that the drink already came with a topping, and they asked me if I still wanted the extra topping. I’m sure there wasn’t any ill intent, but it was frustrating to find out since we didn’t want so much topping, just one type, but I also didn’t want to throw the extra $1 topping charge away. I didn’t want to trouble them by asking to refund and redo the order when they informed me, and it’s not like it’s an huge deal, but again, I was just kind of frustrated by this whole visit.
I genuinely can’t believe I paid this much for two boba drinks, one which was absolutely abysmal, but I guess I’m the clown for letting it happen. The Schaumburg location is so...
Read moreIm a long-time boba drinker. I've been drinking over 20 yrs, since the beginning of Liquid fusion, aka GOAT. This new boba trend with tea base, obviously very different from Liquid fusion that makes it with fruit. I understand all that. But for me, with tea base boba, Happy Lemon is the best. I mean, you name it, I been there. (Every place in china town - Daboba, uni uni, kung fu, Tsaocaa, bingo tea etc), plus Gongcha, whatever you want to name it, I most likely been there. But Fruit base: Liquid Fusion, or Joy yees, Tea base: Happy Lemon.
This place was so bland..First got Oolong and I thought I was drinking just water with Tapioca, so I told them, and they were nice enough to change to different tea, this time Jasmine Green. And the worker told me there was nothing wrong with tea, adding cheese on top makes taste different?? Was a answer. Well Jasmine tea was also veryyyy bland. I didn't want to make a fuss, so I just left.
Come on now, cheese does not make a difference, maybe if you mix it together but I enjoy it separately. And even the cheese was not that great.
Ambiance is nice, good customer service, but flavor is just not there, at least for the tea based drink.
Other drink, mango peach...
