If you want to be treated like a human being, don't eat here! We waited 45 minutes before we realized they had skipped our order (and many other people in the dining room) so we asked what happened. There was no apology for the delay. The "manager" just turned around and started yelling and placing blame on the problem to his employees. About three minutes later, they gave us the two pizzas. We opened them and they gave us the wrong pizza. We returned it and another guest took it which is technically a health code violation since we opened it and had it at our table. My guess is they don't care much about food safety here any way as they touch all of their cold cheese with their bare hands and touch their faces in between pizzas while not switching gloves. If you'd like to see this show, go in and check it out. They do it right before your very eyes.
Another five minutes or so went by and we asked if we were going to get another pizza and the worker rudely responded, "you know other people are waiting for their food too ..." like that's our fault! If they hadn't forgotten our order and subsequently gave us the incorrect pie, no one else would have to wait!
We begrudgingly ate our pizza slices which were interesting to say the least. Another guest got her pizza, an order taken three minutes after ours, and she and her friends openly cheered upon presentation of their meals. She said, "hey we're glad we got it after almost an hour and a half and a free beer." Well it's nice to see someone got compensated for their lack in customer service and order taking. We, however, did not receive any apology, compensation for at least one of the $15 pizzas or for that matter, any sense of customer service resolution. It was a complete joke as the worker was upset when we remarked the other lady got free beer after an hour and a half which was appalling that it took her that long to get two pizzas as well.
He said he didn't make the mistake and that we could leave if we were upset. How nice of an apology. You do know that your job is to make pizza when it's ordered even if it's a "busy" Saturday night. They even offered up the information that they messed up four orders at the same time as ours. Seems they have to figure out how to time manage, train their employees and managers on customer service and how to treat people like they matter because we did in fact spend money there when we didn't have to.
I'm amazed these people get away with this. Poor Galda DiCarlo is rolling over in his grave with these people running his restaurants. It was such a let down. I really wanted to like the pizza but after the altercations, we left without finishing our pizzas and allowed them to sit sadly on their uneven high top tables.
I would not recommend this place. Maybe another location but seriously, they don't care if they ruin your night by including you in their number of mistakes in the evening. They don't know how to handle a semi busy evening. Just because you're a mom and pop establishment doesn't mean you should be able to be nasty in the kitchen and nasty to your customers.
They should be ashamed...
Read moreThe pizza here is a bit unusual. Neither of us had ever had that style of pizza before.
The good: the crust is really, really crispy. It has a nice, solid crunch. And for a pizza crust, it has good flavor.
The pepperoni slices were not the ultra-thin kind and they seemed to be decent quality.
The price was very reasonable. I think it was $6-7 for a 6-slice pizza, which we (2 people) could've shared.
The not-so-good: The cheese is not melted on top of the pizza in the oven. For someone like me who loves super melty cheese, it's kind of disappointing. The crust was very hot when it was served, but I touched the cheese and it was still cold. I guess the idea is for the cheese to melt due to the crust's heat, and after a couple minutes it did.
While I thought the pizza's crust was great, overall eating this pizza reminded me of those cheap frozen pizzas that are put on a piece of round cardboard, wrapped in plastic and stuck in the freezer section of the grocery store. Perhaps that is unfair- this pizza was slightly better than that.
Normal pizza boxes were not used. The boxes look like the paperboard boxes you put clothing in before wrapping the box as a Christmas present. The good thing about this type of box is that is probably isn't coated with those waxy coatings usually used on pizza boxes, which have been linked to causing extra weight gain. The bad thing is that it doesn't hold the pizza as securely. If you're going to transport it, be careful.
Aside from the pizza itself, the service was okay. The employees all seemed polite and helpful. Although I like rap music, I suppose I was a little bit surprised that the kitchen was blaring music dropping the f-bomb every other word. There was also a TV with a football game on. However, we sat on the far side of the restaurant and it was easy to tune all that out.
At the table next to us was a woman sitting there, but not eating anything. One employee kept coming out to talk to her. He had on gloves, but kept touching all kinds of other stuff, like the tables, chairs, etc. Somebody should point out to him that the gloves are to keep his hands clean, and if he keeps touching everything in sight, his hands aren't going...
Read moreSo..... After going to the Oglebay Festival of Lights, my wife and I wanted to get her favorite pizza, DiCarlos. She's had this pizza since she was a little girl (about 35 years). We were picking it up from Wheeling and driving back to Columbus. I called and ordered the pizza which was a tray with extra cheese. I was asked: Pepperoni? I said no, I do not want pepperoni. (We have been vegetarian for over 20 years). We get there and guess what? Pepperoni is all over it. My wife is frustrated because the exact same thing happened 2 years ago at this location in the summertime when we went to a concert nearby. She takes the pizza back and the person working there is as jerk and tells her she is rude because she asked if they gave us the wrong pizza. If I told someone they were rude at my job I would be in trouble. He pretty much ignored her, didn't apologize and they starting making it again. I asked to speak to the manager and was ignored as well. There was no apology at all, no acknowledgement of the mistake. They apologized to another guy who had to wait for a couple of slices. This was the worst service ever. When we got the pizza home we could tell it had not been cooked properly, as we've had it so many times in the past from other locations. I'm not happy at all. We're not going to that location ever again. Go there if you want a hassle! The location in Myrtle Beach is the best,...
