Words can not begin to describe the nauseating, ill-mannered treatment I experienced at Elle & Jack's. Immediately met with a crude attitude and poor service from the bartender, I decided to stay and eat. While it was busy, It took about twenty minutes to get drinks, and about another 20 before my food order was taken. My second drink was wrong (which happens) but is it really necessary to argue that was the drink I ordered when I let her know prior I didn't even enjoy the first one, and then throw the drink in the sink and rudely tell me that now I had to wait. When the food finally arrived my Filet was overcooked. It took 15 min to notify the bartender, ten minutes to take it back to the kitchen only to come back and argue that it wasn't overcooked, and not asking if I'd like something else. Instead, she thought it would be professional to badmouth our party to the entire bar and a large table adjacent to the bar while we stepped outside. A friend was inside and witnessed this. She did so graciously remove the steak from the bill as one would expect in this situation. She also tossed the checkbook with such force the card flew out of the checkbook and onto the ground. When a fellow dinnee told her she was unprofessional, she then yelled, he was unprofessional. She also yelled, that if we could not AFFORD something just say so. I've never been so disappointed in one of our local businesses before. I think the largest complaint I would have about my experience is not once did a manager come to defuse the situation or make amends. The way things were handled was completely sickening. I can be sure that I will never step foot back in Elle & Jack's while such a vile individual...
Read moreOur waitress literally took a $50 bill from a gentleman in our party to bring the birthday girl a piece of cake to surprise her after we paid our bill of $320 & tipped her $100 already. He had to ask her 3 times after that about the cake and when she finally brought it she handed him another bill for it for about $8. He didn't say anything he just put a $20 down she picked it up started to walk away and turns and says to him you don't need change do you? So for an $8 piece of cake she got tipped $62 on top of the $100 we already tipped her. Us ladies were not told about this until we were safely on the highway headed home because we DEFINITELY would have addressed it right then and there!
The food was great and we met the chef who was super friendly and even outside offering umbrellas to get to cars because it was raining so hard. However because of the waitress we won't be back. I have never had a waitress so apparently greedy & disgustingly money hungry and not even thankful for the big tips...
Read moreWe have been coming to Oglebay for years and years and decided to branch out the last two years and try some local food. We drove by it last year after eating at a mediocre restaurant nearby and said “we want to go there next year!” Well, we went this past weekend. Had reservations for 8. Our table wasn’t ready as the previous table seemed to be chatty and took a bit longer than predicted (no biggie). They see our toddler getting a bit antsy waiting so asked if they could get her anything and brought her a bowl of cut strawberries which was lovely. Anyways, all 8 of us ordered mainly different meals and EVERYTHING was delicious. I specifically had the seared scallops which was tasty. We also had the truffle fries as an app and they were to die for. Anyways, we found our new go to restaurant when in Wheeling. This restaurant could definitely compete with the Pittsburgh foodie scene. Cute aesthetics inside, good cocktails,...
