UPDATE: Still freaking amazing food! We literally drove almost an hour 1 way JUST for their food to have twice within 3 weeks. Wish we could pick this place up, scrunch it and put it in our pockets so we could have their food any time we want. We have eaten in Sante Fe and no food has come close. Must try.

An all around really great experience! Was wanting to review based on atmosphere & service an hour ago but was waiting to taste the food. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! Such an array of food and all three different tacos I tried, DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Bartenders are so friendly. We told each other jokes. Will absolutely be coming back. Philly taco was amazing!! If you go in, tell them Mighty Mouth recommended. Lol. Also love that they do not have a "typical bar" atmosphere with tv's on everywhere so you can actually enjoy those around you. Such a great lil place.

Update: 4 hrs later, we still cannot stop talking about how good the food was and kicking ourselves for not getting a dozen tacos to bring home. And also WAYYY better, (absolutely no comparison!) than River City next to arena. Worth the...

I really want to give 5 stars because the service was so good. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. We ordered chips with salsa and queso, Birria Quesatacos, and Tacos Campechanos. Unfortunately we only liked the Tacos Campechanos. The heat on them was perfect! Definitely did not need to add the jalapenos. The fresh ingredients like the salsa fresca, onion, and cilantro really cut the richness. I will just say the negatives quickly here. The queso was so watery when delivered that you couldn't share. Each person had to eat the chip over the queso bowl because it was so watery it immediately poured off the chip. Then by the end of the meal the queso was a complete solid you couldn't use it on anything. Obviously we realized it was Velveeta served super hot (hence the initial watery texture) and then went solid at room temp. Salsa tasted like jar salsa and not even as flavorful as some popular brands. The Birria Quesatacos would've been better with the upcharge of salsa fresca because it is so rich it needs to be cut with freshness. We will go back and try other tacos...

UPDATE 10/27/20 I came back to update this review because I went back to Tacoholix recently for takeout and it was outstanding. The pork is delicious! I love the new food truck style tacos, and the queso is bangin! The prices are great, and service is still friendly.

I love dining local, so Tacoholix is a great place to eat in Wheeling. The pork for the tacos is always super tender and a great texture, but all the times I've had it, it's lacked salt. Some of the tacos on the menu are out there. There's one with potatoes and gravy (not my thing for a taco) I wish there were more traditional taco options, and maybe some housemade queso on the menu. I would probably eat here more often if they had traditional options, but I do like that they're trying to be different.
