Read moreI came here with a friend because it was close to her house and we love Korean food. I didn’t have high expectations about it being “authentic”, since it is Asian food being served in White Bear Lake - a community with low diversity. However, I had a wonderful experience.
The decor inside was clean and modern. They really make use of the small space they have and there is enough seating to fit about 20-25 ppl (tight). They even have outdoor seating. There was only one person taking orders at the counter and it seemed only one person working in the kitchen. The menu was limited, but I didn’t mind because they had bibimbap - my favorite Korean dish. We ordered the Kalbi bibimbap and chicken wings (half spicy and half soy garlic).
The staff behind the counter was sweet and helpful! She shared their food ordering process and then took our orders. While we waited, we grabbed compostable silverware and made waters with lemon. The food came out within 10-15 minutes and we finished both our bibimbap bowls.
The bibimbap bowl was so good! The meat was tender and moist, and the mixture of veggies balanced it perfectly. We were so full and could only eat one chicken wing. The wings were good, but did not look like the picture on their website. On the website, the wings look crispy like Korean fried chicken that has a batter on them. However, in person, the wings did not have a batter and were not crunchy. I recommend the spicy Korean sauce and not the soy garlic one (tastes too plain).
I’d definitely come here again (especially during the summer so I can walk across the street to Cup & Cone after for dessert). I would love to try the other items...
Read moreFabulous new restaurant - opened Mar 15, 2024! We went with friends a month after the grand opening and tried almost everything on the menu. SO GOOD! Sammy (Samantha) provided exceptional service. We first ordered at the counter, and she additionally provided table service. ("Smiling Sammy" was the sweetest server that I've had in a long time - super friendly, attentive, and flexible.)
The Tuna Tataki and Beef Short Ribs are our favorite. The ribs are technically a sharable appetizer, but it also makes a great entree. (We don't eat rice, so the gluten-free, healthy options were greatly appreciated.)
All the menu looked and tasted delicious! The amount of ahi tuna served with the Tuna Tataki or Rice Bowl is a crazy awesome value. I was able to get an additional salad (no meat) with my meal, even though it wasn't on the menu. For beverages, they have water, milk, coffee, tap beer, wine, two large coolers of bottled alcoholic beverages, and a soda fountain. As a brand new business, the food was delightfully tasteful and surprisingly consistent.
The atmosphere was very clean and cozy. Inside seating accommodates maybe 40 people with tables and 5 bar stools, so it works for solo dining or group dining. Outdoor patio seating accommodates another 6+ tables and looks super cute at night with the pergola and twinkle lights.
Unlike most other White Bear area restaurants, there is a LARGE PARKING LOT, so parking is easy. The neighborhood is very safe, and Cup & Cone (a very popular summer ice cream stand) is directly across the street. I imagine this place becoming a local favorite....
