The good. The bad. The ugly. Let’s start with the good. I got the spicy chicken meal size medium. The meal was very good and a good value. The fries and drink even though they were medium were in my opinion more like a L/XL. I can’t imagine how big a large would have been! If I were to go back I would get this again. They gave us a goody bag filled with nice gifts and some extras for our troubles. In the window it says In God we trust. Nice touch.
Now for the bad…you know how they say in customer service the first touch sets the tone for the rest of the customer experience, well it’s true. Taking into account its opening day the traffic was crazy and that’s to be expected. The traffic guy in the parking lot was rude and unwelcoming to say the very least. This hit me the wrong way and if it weren’t for the other person in my car I would have just left but she very much wanted to go in so we did. Third time around we successfully park before getting waved down. Again, I get it, it’s the first day. We go in and get in a long line which is to be expected until we find out the line of people we are standing behind are 6 employees just standing around doing nothing. We place our order and it went well. I go to get my drink and it’s so fizzy that it fizzes out the top, nobody’s fault, carbonation happens. The employees who are just standing around say not to worry about it and they would clean it up but nobody is getting me something to clean me off from the spillage. Then we go to sit down still with sticky soft drink up my arm and the tables are filthy with food. I asked 2 different associates who were just standing around if they could wipe down/ sweep up our booth and finally had to do it myself with a napkin wiping off the table and picking fries off the seat and floor around us only to be told by a manager not to ever clean up. I’m clearly irritated by this point bc I have a soft drink spillage on me, cleaning up other people’s mess while associates stand around watching me. I would have gone to another table but the rest of the tables were unavailable due to associates things and supplies. All I wanted to do was to have a fun meal with my daughter in law. We’d had such a good time up to this point. Now for the ugly… a manager, I think district, the same manager who told me not to ever clean up, said, “Mam, what can I do for you?”, in a no nonsense tone when all I wanted to do is get wiped up and sit down to eat, which at this point was just way too much work. Then, while I still have all my fries and finishing my sandwich very clearly still eating, she tries to throw away my food and said twice that she didn’t want to get bit. Now, I am over it.
I understand first days of store openings.Things go right and things go wrong. I get new associates not knowing what to do or how to do it. I don’t understand the parking guy waving me out of line twice to ask me a question instead of walking up to me. I don’t understand the rudeness of upper management who should know better conflict resolution skills. I feel for the franchise owner and hope his business is a success. I’m thankful for the gifts and the pies and the hospitality of trying to make...
Read moreOn my first visit my sandwich came out on a bun that was literally flatter than a pancake and the sauce was smeared all over the top of the bun. Very aesthetically unappealing, but the taste was good. Service was great, but the manager I showed my sandwich to looked at me like he thought I was crazy for not being happy with a flattened sandwich. The place is nice and clean. I scanned the QR code on the receipt and left a review. I got a response fairly quickly saying they were sorry I had an unsatisfactory visit.
I decided to give them a second chance. I got the same meal. The sandwich was less flat this time, but still looked NOTHING like the sandwiches on the menu board. I spoke with one of the managers again. This one was paying attention - listening well - and offered me a free meal next time I come in.
At this point, I see very little that sets Whataburger apart from all of the other fast food places in town. Their customer service seems to be great, but is it going to stay that way after the newness wears off? Time will tell.
I will be going back. Not because I think they are great, but because I need to eat. I will spread the love around White...
Read more1st red flag; 10th car in the drive thru and it took 30 minutes to reach the window. 2nd red flag; I had ordered 2 number 1 combos, no deviation or special order, got to the window and was handed the food but only one coke. Showed the clerk the receipt which was correct and I got the second coke. 3rd red flag was after not getting the second drink, I should have checked the food. Instead of getting 2 regular burgers I got 1 plain burger with bacon and a second dressed burger with bacon. After taking 30 minutes to get the food I didn't take it back, but I'm sure someone who ordered 2 bacon burgers were surprised to get regular burgers. I gave 2 stars even with the issues because the staff was friendly and the facility had only been open for a month so a learning curve is inevitable, but I won't be back until they get some experience under their belt. On a side note, the drive thru lane is marked my cones and the turn is tight. I seen 2 cars hit the cones while...
