tl;dr food is kino, service is great, soundscape needs work
The food here SPANKS! The service is SO good, yet nice and CHiLL. I love this place so much more in their new location, and I deeply appreciate their small CONSISTENT menu. The new decore is great and I like how they are trying to not blend in with the skeezy alcoholic's bars near them, but look more on the artsy/boutiquey side of things, BUT there's one catch. It's a shame, really. They spent all that time and expense making that back area look so nice and inviting, but as soon as you go back there you hear the house music AND the kitchen's (totally different) music! ICK! When did this become acceptable in so many places?? These folks put so much forethought into their interior design, and they're so conscientious about what they put in their food, that I would have assumed they would have put some thought into AUDIO design as well. Now, again, I can't fault them 100% for the fact that we just live in a hellish environment of man-made noise. Everything from traffic to the incessant screech of tinny tablet speakers. However, local establishments do absolutely have it within their power to manage their employees in such a way that a singular music source can be agreed upon, one that motivates the crew without bothering the guests, and in fact, this sort of arrangement can also go a long way to knocking down that all-too-common communication wall between the front-of-house, and back-of-house staff. Overall, still a...
Read moreI have NEVER written a bad restaurant review before, but I felt compelled in this case. I was appalled at how I was treated here. We moved to Whitefish in April and have loved the restaurant scene and how friendly the staff usually are, so this experience was a complete departure from everything else we’ve experienced here.
The greeting was fine, but everything went downhill after that. After waiting 40 minutes for a simple order of eggs and avocado toast, I only received half of my food. When I politely pointed this out, I was rudely told that’s all I had ordered and repeatedly asked if there were two tickets or separate payments, which there were not. I was then told it was on two separate tickets, as if that were somehow my mistake.
The issue wasn’t the mix-up, it was how it was handled. I wasn’t rude, I simply pointed out that part of my order was missing, yet I was made to feel like the problem. The food itself may be good, but it doesn’t matter. We will not return, nor would we recommend this place to anyone.
As a small business owner myself, I’m usually overly gracious to other small businesses because I understand the challenges. But I also know how crucial respect and kindness are to customer experience and that was completely...
Read moreCame here on 06/29 for brunch. Our group of 5 was sat right away as it wasn’t too busy. Service started off rough as our sever took only half the tables drink orders. Every time she would come back to the table she would only listen to two of our drink orders or questions then just walk away without seeing what the rest of the table wanted to order. When we finally got our order in, it took 45 minutes to receive one smoothie that was ordered. Then we noticed tables that arrived much later than us, were receiving their food. And not just smaller tables, tables that had 6 people in their party that arrived 40 minutes after we did and got their meals before us. Our server had told us a couple times that she checked on the food and it was coming. Then the 3rd time she told us “I don’t know where your food is.” At this point, we were there for two hours and hadn’t received our meal and couldn’t take it anymore so we canceled the order and didn’t get to eat. The server needs to communicate with the kitchen staff better. This could have been avoided if she told the cooks that our order was taking too long and to start working on it instead of telling us she didn’t know where our food was....
