We ate breakfast here on Saturday, 9/19/20 and had the misfortune of having Jade as our server. She was short when she took our drink order (and seemed annoyed when I told her we had only ordered one cup of coffee when she brought us two) and barely uttered a word as she took our food order. At first we just thought she was having a bad day, but she was really pleasant and chatty with the three other couples she was serving. She dropped our food off without a word...which was mediocre. My husbands hashbrowns were cold. The avocado on my plate was brown. To her credit she did stop by to refill my coffee while mumbling "looks like we're doing ok here" to which I tried to respond "Actually, we're not..." as she abruptly turned and walked away. She dropped off the check without a word and silently walked by to pick up the credit card. She put it back on the table without a word. No thank you, no have a nice day, just silence. I asked the hostess (who was very sweet) if there was a manager I could speak with, she said that they had not come in yet. This was around 8:45 AM. Having worked in the food service industry for 20 years, I try to give the benefit of the doubt when the service is less than stellar. The blatant way in which we were disregarded, compounded with her completely ignoring our attempts to make polite conversation while politely chatting with her other tables is inexcusable. Fortunately, our trip only got better from there and our next breakfast at Swift Creek Cafe...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Whitefish and decided to try as many local restaurants as we could. We managed to cram the Buffalo Café in since my husband is an avid breakfast eater. We were promptly greeted with a smile and the atmosphere was very positive and the place soon filled up with locals. We both ordered the buffalo pie assuming it was essentially eggs whipped up whatever style you requested layered on top of crispy fried potatoes. The plates arrived quickly and we dug in. Now I know many of the reviews boast amazing food so I'm not going to generalize and will keep my opinion on the Buffalo Pie. As a disclaimer, we don't eat greasy, fatty food as a rule and typically reserve the 'splurge' for a weekend dinner and keep the 1st meal healthy. My plate was layered with grease drenched potatoes with 2 eggs on the top and side of ham. Although we ordered different meals, whatever vegetables that came with the dish were lost in a heap of soggy, tasteless potatoes. Sadly, there was no flavor but for the salt and pepper we added. I ate the egg and ham, picked thru to potatoes to find a few pieces of diced tomato and was done. Normally, this is one of my favorite choices, dippy egg on top of a base of seasoned crispy potatoes entwined with flavorful veggies. Though we desperately wanted to love this, the flavorless, greasy, heavy dish was...
Read moreI had looked forward to eating here, especially with the great reviews. However I showed up at 1:25 for lunch. I was met with a sign on the door stating they were closing early at 1:30. No problem, I was there before that, and knew exactly what I wanted. After several minutes, and many staff seeing me waiting, someone finally came over. Before I could say anything, she said “we are already closed “. I will never forget or come here to eat again. I will also be sure to tell all those I know who visit here to go somewhere else.
To Alex M, owner/gm You say you reviewed video footage of the day, and say no one saw me standing in the doorway. This is simply NOT true. I made eye contact with at least 3 employees, one of them several times over. They saw me, and I was not acknowledged. By the time they finally saw me, all I got was "you are too late". Nor were there people in the foyer who had finished their meals when I arrived. Only one person left the building just after I arrived, an older lady who wished me a good day. I can't believe you are trying to post something that simply isn't true. Nor was the kitchen closed. I watched as several tables were receiving their meals as I stood and waited, with plates still being made in...
