7-8 years ago MCT was the only real coffee place in town and they had pretty good coffee at time. Unfortunately, at some point the ownership changed and the quality began to go down. Several years later the pandemic hit and the quality of both the coffee and the customer service went down again. So, because of all that I primarily visit Folklore when I want a latte.

Today I got the bright idea to give MCT another shot after having not been there for a year or more. Todays experience unfortunately followed the poor trend. Another customer accidentally took my drink (which wasn’t an issue at all), and the barista proceeded to loudly shame him for making the mistake. It was embarrassing to watch. Then when I got my drink it was missing the flavoring syrup and just wasn’t all that good.

I’m leaving two stars as part of my review for two reasons: 1) their coffee beans are actually pretty good. If you’re interested in buying whole beans, MCT is a good choice. 2) their gift shop has some interesting stuff if you’re looking for small things.

Was in today and overheard a gray haired "karen" type arguing with the manager. Karen didn't realize how coffe shops work, that after you order you kinda linger and grab your stuff from the pickup zone before sitting down to a table. Apparently she expected a full waitress style service. The manager finally tracked her down and brought her her stuff and she tried ripping into the manager and being all "this is unacceptable" "I need to speak to your boss" "I'm not a tourist, I'm local" typical Karen type BS. The manager stayed so calm and attempted to explain how coffee shops work, despite being repeatedly interrupted and demeaned by this lady. She stayed super polite and even offered her a free drink on her next visit to the store, but the Karen announced "we're done". I don't understand what the big whoop de do is about MCT. Was at the Whitefish location this morning, ordered coffee black, a breakfast sandwich and a plain bagel with cream cheese.

Granted, my order is pretty simple and I wasn't expecting a Four Seasons lunch. But man, when the server dropped the plates off at our table, I had to give it a second look .

The plain bagel was........well plainer than Jane. Plopped alongside it was a tube of Philly Cream cheese. Thank God for the cream cheese, it was the best thing on the plate.

Next, I bit into the breakfast sandwich. About the same in taste and flavor as an airline sandwich. I opened it up and I saw the most industrial looking square thing pretending to be an omelette. Plus a sausage patty.

Underwhelming, in a word. The coffee....well what can I say. McDonald's has better coffee.

First time at MCT Whitefish....
