Sharon with the Karen hairdo..
Normally I love to give raving reviews as if my opinion matters and to help shine light on those deserving. Unfortunately today is not one of those times. I took my 2 young girls, age 2 and 6 to enjoy the breakfast buffet. (Mom is away with a family emergency so what does any dad do, try to make it the best experience for these lil ladies.) They were moderately busy but we were seated promptly and kindly by the greeter. It took a couple minutes for our server to appear once seated so I took the girls to get a plate of food and get started since there wasn't a lot of time left until the buffet closed. When we get back to the table the server finally appears, I greet her with a kind hello and she immediately starts with " looks like your in a hurry, what do you want to drink". Placed our drink order and then I retrieved my plate. Food was as good as to be expected and we enjoyed it. But, my two year old was more interested in coloring then eating. So as my 6 yr and I were finishing I asked for a small box to take my 2 yrs food home to pick at for the next 3 hours lol. Mind you this has never been a problem in the 7 years we've been dining here. Today apparently that was a problem. So I proceeded to inform my server that we will be here for a while then for her to try and finish her food, after already being reminded twice about the check in 5 min. So, from 11 am until 12:15 we sat and waited for her to finish. This resulted in approx 2-3 different rounds on that table of fresh customers, which means lost money for the server and establishment. I go to pay the bill and now after an hour+ of sitting there and her never speaking to me, she brings me a small to go box with cookies in it for my daughters. That was a huuuuge slap in the face at this point and this papa bear lost it. I awarded her no tip except for 1 dollar and a quote my service manager uses all the time. "Don't trip over a dollar, to pick up a penny." I myself do customer service work and was appaled by this behavior. The waitress then chased me down to make a scene in the lobby and try to give my dollar back. At that point I asked for the manager. While I did explode at first and curse to the manager I regained composure and apologized to her. She apologized to me and even offered to send something home for my daughter to eat in the end. I gave her back the box and told her this can be a great teaching tool and moment. The multitude of servers and guests watching this unfold with pure shock on their face was wild. If you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods the food is usually spot on, but avoid the server named Sharon with the Karen hairdo. Unless you look like you are rich she doesn't seem to be too nice to you based on my nearly 2 hours of...
Read moreI dined in with my mother and two young children. Each of us ordered a meal (4 altogether), and the meal that I ordered was the salad bar. One of my sons did not like his spaghetti, so I gave him a bite of my chicken noodle soup (from the salad bar) and asked if he liked that and wanted to have my soup instead. He said yes. I have twin boys, and the other deemed this unfair and asked for a bowl of soup so I got my other son a bowl of soup and discussed with my mother how we would just pay for the bowl of soup if it became an issue. Before we were able to discuss this with the waitress whose named appeared as "Ngan" on the receipt, she came to table and very loudly said "I'M GOING TO GO AHEAD AND CHARGE YOU FOR TWO BOWLS OF SOUP BECAUSE THEY (MY CHILDREN) ARE NOT TO SHARE YOUR SALAD BAR." I responded that this was fine and that my son did not like his spaghetti so I gave him my bowl of soup. She responded by saying "WELL I CAME OVER AND ASKED IF EVERYTHING CAME OUT OKAY AND YOU SAID YOU WERE FINE." I asked to speak to the manager, John, who had a similar passive aggressive attitude about the issue but reported that the waitress could have been more "tactical" in addressing the issue. He gave me our receipt, I reported that we wouldn't be back, and I returned to the table to pack up and leave. The manager followed me to our table and restarted the conversation that had already ended by saying with the same passive aggressive attitude "I don't know why you said you would never come back, I was siding with you by saying that the waitress could have been more tactical in her response." I responded by saying that I'm not surprised that his employee went toe to toe with a customer, because now a manager came back for more and is doing the same. Ultimately, we weren't charged for the kids meals and were charged for two 2 dollar bowls of soup instead, so the restaurant lost even more money than if they had done nothing at all, in addition to losing customers that will never be back. We were treated with even more rude behavior while waiting for any of the many employees in the lobby to ring us out at the front, as the manager declined to come over and complete the transaction as did the group of employees who were invested in making this an uncomfortable situation by insisting that we MUST check out with the original waitress and that no one else is able to complete the transaction. A young gentleman kindly stepped up and completed our transaction and gave my kids each a smiley cookie. I appreciated the kindness of this particular employee, but ultimately am disappointed in the experience that I had at "the place...
Read moreOk. This is a typical Eat n Park. My mother enjoys the Sunday bruch bar. But this Eat n Park offers a basket raffle every Christmas. This was my first year witnessing the raffle. I went to have a late lunch with my mom. She loves Chinese Auctions. The day we went for lunch, she was so excited to purchase Chinese auction tickets. It was the last day for the basket auction, and the store was out of tickets to sell. The front attendant informed my mother that the store did not want to have extra unsold tickets laying around. The store ran out of tickets to sell a couple of days prior. My mom asked to speak with the manager. He was no help. He informed my mother that tickets come from corporate and corporate ran out of tickets to send. Also, he reiterated that the store did not want unsold tickets laying around. My mom said that she had been participating in the basket raffle for years, and it was very disappointing not to be able to purchase tickets. The manger basically shrugged her concern off. My mother is old school and loves her small games of chance. A roll of tickets costs a very few dollars. If the manager was unable to acquire more tickets or was not willing to purchase more tickets to support his location, he should have ended the auction and taken the display down. This was my suggestion to appease the public. End the auction and remove the display. The manger shrugged his shoulders at me as well. Also, I took home a piece of pumpkin pie for dessert. It was extremely small, tasted like a frozen pie, and not worth $4.00. The rosemary chicken...
