Dakara Sushi — Restaurant in Whittier

Coming from a more metropolitan area, I missed good sushi and it is near impossible to find good sushi in Orange County. Dakara Sushi doesn't fail to deliver. My layman taste buds tell me it's an 'authentic' sushi restaurant run by Japanese, based on my past trips to Japan. It is the closest thing to real, quality Japanese sushi I have come across in the OC area and I can't recommend this place enough. Their humble and unassuming presence convinces me they focus on the food and not display, which is exactly what I want. This is not to say their decor is subpar, but it doesn't involve tacky ornaments and, is thus, refreshing to see transparency and confidence in the way they present themselves. This place is pretty good. Most of the food was delicious. Some of the things we had included Miso Cod (delicious, but a bit small), salmon sushi, baked crab roll (really good), caterpillar roll (OK), and salmon skin cut roll. What I dislike about this place is the parking. That's the biggest reason for 4 stars. This shopping center seems to be packed all the time. It's challenging to find a parking spot. Dakara Sushi is a great neighborhood place with great staff. The restaurant has some of the best sushi around and always has something new on the menu. Dakara sources some of the best fish from specific vendors and locations. If Jason (sushi chef) doesn't have it, it either wasn't fresh or wasn't available through one of his trusted vendors.
