I walked in, only to be met with the most appallingly rude staff I have ever encountered. The individual at the front a smug, sarcastic little figure with an air of unwarranted self-importance seemed intent on making the experience as unpleasant as possible. Whether driven by insecurity, boredom, or sheer unprofessionalism, I can’t say, but his behavior was intolerable. When asked, “How many?” I explained I was meeting a party already seated. Rather than simply directing me, he chose to play a childish game, repeatedly responding with, “What? What? Why?” despite clearly hearing me and seeing I was carrying my sleeping child. Growing tired of his antics, I simply pointed to my party and walked over, only for him to follow and escalate the situation. At the table, he sarcastically asked if I’d be eating. I informed him that I wouldn’t, as I was holding a sleeping child while my party would be dining. His response? A condescending, “Great! Servers love when that happens.” He then sauntered off to brief the server in the same snide tone. The server, instead of balancing the situation, enthusiastically picked up where he left off, delivering service with rude remarks and a sour attitude. Despite our efforts to focus on enjoying our company, this duo (and their coworkers at the counter) continued to antagonize us with glaring looks and whispered comments. The hostility was so bizarre it felt personal as if we’d unknowingly stumbled into a feud we weren’t part of. We paid the tab, left a tip out of courtesy, and walked out without a word. But even if the experience hadn’t been so unpleasant, this establishment couldn’t warrant a positive review. The food was abysmal bland, uninspired, and poorly executed. It’s a shame, really. The place has potential, but the staff guarantees its failure. Perhaps the little frontman was named Jack? His server girlfriend the co-owner? Their behavior reeked of entitlement, as if they owned the place and cared nothing for their customers. A rude, incompetent staff can make or break an establishment, and in this case, they’ve firmly broken it. This establishment is not worth visiting at all. Save your money and time. Staff aside, you know when even the coffee is bad, it’s all...
Read moreOMG...🤭"JACK'S" 🙆☺️😌. Believe it or not☝️, how can I forget this place. Memories, memories😉😏💭. My very first date w/ an Aunt as chaperone, was here. That's how far back I remember. We're seated at the back by the windows looking out to the Plaza. My Aunt had worked there, her name was Lola. She was so proud of "JACK'S". Every time I go in now, I look towards those tables & still see myself & that day. The place, the food, the crowd! It has always been popping w/ customers from all over. Here in Whittier the name "JACK'S" was as equal to "BOB'S BIG BOY", or any other well named restaurant at the time! Are you kidding me😲. We would come from all surrounding neighborhoods just to eat at "JACK'S". Famous for all their dishes, breakfast, lunch, and dinners. Real AMERICAN CUISINE. See, I myself & I don't know about the rest of you...if you dare to fess up. Breakfast at our place growing up was egg & beans; not hash browns n toast pancakes? Tortillas were our bread. Pancakes?? Ehh😏 our Mama did her her best, but they didn't taste the same🤷. These dishes w/ meats...like fried chicken, steak, liver & onions, veal, spaghetti w/ meat balls etc., biscuits n gravy???....with eggs!!! 🤔💭☝️Different very different. I fell in love with cooking because of "JACK'S". I experienced food in a different way through my taste buds. What an awakening to FOOD.🍲🥪🍔🍝🌮🍳🥞🧇🥓🥩🍗🍖🥗🥔 All these years...and the enjoyment continues. Every time I eat there, I go with different friends & family. Each & everyone connects me w/ other friends & family that I didn't even realize they too have been a faithful customer of "JACK'S" for years..and I'd never run into them before that! At any given time 🤔💭Amazing! Why, it's a bonus BLESSING of the DAY. Memories, memories, and pleasantries. You can't beat that in a million years. The place "JACK'S" is an "ICON" in its own time. The prices are great, the food is delicious. It is, it's own...
Read moreWent to have breakfast with daughter, waitress was in such a rush did not listen to my order and only received one plate of food with my daughter sitting without anything. If you have kids you know that is not a good thing, when I asked waitress where her food was she asked if there was another order again did not listen. She then rushed over to cooks asking for side of hash browns for her again not listening when I asked for extra crispy my daughter will not eat soft hash brown. She returned with white uncooked hash brown like they tossed then on the grill for ten seconds and threw them on a plate. My daughter did not eat them had to take her home to feed her. I also ordered a bowl of oatmeal to go for my wife. I did not think it was possible to mess this up ,but I was wrong when I gave it to her five minutes later it tasted like old mushy pudding nothing like oatmeal they must of added way to much water or it was just old. I let the hash browns go the waitress was stressed ,but after getting home and finding the oatmeal was horrible as well that was it I called the manager Brian. He was rather bitter then helpful did not want to hear my thoughts on the service and quality of food. Cut me off every time I tried to speak only to say you should have talked to me before you left. I would have talked to him then ,but I was trying to be nice and I did not want to taste my wifes food before she even had a chance to open it! All in all I feel I just wasted twenty bucks and was insulted by the management I will not go back again and would not recommend anyone else to go either. I don't even want to go back for a new oatmeal or dinner which was offered after being cut off...
