Alondra's Tacos — Restaurant in Wichita

A Carryout Assorted Taco Order: I opened up the container and a huge whiff of seasoned meats and cilantro pleasantly hit me in the face. A nice presentation, I was pleasantly surprised that the tortillas were doubled up and there were plenty of lime wedges for squeezing. All the tacos were dressed the same, with plenty of fresh onion and cilantro. I got sauce on the side, but frankly, it wasn't needed. All the tacos were generous in portion and the meats well seasoned, tender and juicy. All the tacos were equally good, it was hard to pick a favorite and there's something to be said for keeping things simple. When your ingredients are high quality and fresh, you don't need a whole lot to really get a taco to sing. Properly seasoned & cooked meats + cilantro & onion + a squeeze of lime + fresh tortillas = A damn good taco, with the Al Pastor tops...

Tough communication when I went in. I am not lowering my rating for that, just a heads up. I ended up being served with my food "to go," even though they already asked me if I wanted it "for here" or "to go." Went ahead and took my food home since it was packaged up. Paid $17 for pozole, water, and one small taco. Cash only. The taco was genuinely the blandest I've ever had in my life. The two sauces they included in the bag also had no heat or flavor to speak of. The pozole tasted great, but the meat was sparse and super fatty. I live in the area, and I'll say that you can throw a dart in any direction and hit an incredible Mexican restaurant. I wouldn't...

A little pricey considering the quality of the food. I should have known better as I went in: the space was empty, and chairs were stacked on top of tables in half of the restaurant. I ordered carne asada tacos for myself and a carne asada quesadilla for my kid. The meat was rough, and it tasted like chard. I tried my kid's quesadilla, and it was the same.The agua fría had a cheaply made lid and the straw couldn't fit into the precut hole. When I attempted to pay, they didn't accept cards, so the cashier directed me to a deteriorating ATM. Who doesn't accept cards in 2024?

But hey at least the staff...
