Honestly I want you to know that I'm from the south Eastern part of these United States. That makes me partial and biased for certain dishes on the menu. Let's begin with the shrimp and grits. This dish originated from the Gullah people in South Carolina / Savannah Georgia area. Over time is become popular and now viral sorts to say. This had to be the most disappointing shrimp and grits I've ever had. It was a small serving, the grits were stone ground (which means there wil be kernel shards with a firm texture if not cooked long enough to soften), and nothing brought the dish together....gravy. The shrimp was excellent though. Needless to say, I could not finish this entree so I happily tried another.
Eggs Pontchartrain! This was seasoned very well. One poached egg was correct and the other was hard boiled. You read that correctly. Thankfully the oyster was fried hard because the bread was soggy and not toasted.
Speaking of frying, let's discuss the chicken and waffles. The waffles were done really well. So well in fact that it's absorbed the syrup you would put on top. The batter for the fried chicken was crunchy and flavorful. The protein however had no flavor. The chicken needs to be seasoned.
Would I go back? Yes. We were seated immediately, our waitress was attentive, the bathroom is clean, and the food was nice and hot when it came to our table. The manager was open to what we had to say. It's clear the effort is there it just needs to be tweaked.
Oh, I almost forgot, we opened up with the biscuits and I swear to you they taste super similar to Pillsbury Grand biscuits. It had a very processed flavor. Not pillowy soft like a homemade...
Read moreDon’t let the pictures fool you, the food was tasteless . I’m a born and raised southern girl, so I was super excited to try this place. Let’s start with a positive… the patio was cute however; even though there were empty tables out there we were unable to be seated outside. We sat at booth reminiscent of a dennys style restaurant. The tables inside were very close together, so much so an older lady with a walker had trouble getting through and a party are larger people were very uncomfortable because they didn’t fit at their table. On to the important part; the food. We got the spiked lemonade and the key lime martini… both were very bitter and off on the flavors, so much so I left my $18 in drinks sitting on the table. For food we ordered the bananas foster French toast, fried green tomatoes and a side of grits. The.French toast was something you could get at ihop but not as tasty. The pecans are not candied just covered in sugar. As for the friend green tomatoes, it was essentially like a watery, flavorless snack coated with bread crumbs. The grits were the worst part, runny, oddly milky but not creamy. We asked for salt which they had to hunt down…. The manager never came to check on us to give us a chance to give input but he did check on the tables around us. The hostess seemed confused, especially when a party of 5 showed up, she had no idea what to do. The bartender was very busy but really should try to smile and be more pleasant. Over all I would say don’t waste your time or money. Visit some tried and true places like homegrown, crutch & biscuit, the beacon, and first mile. All of which are delicious and amazing...
Read moreQuaint little local bistro. Decorated in a comfortable tasteful way, a simple soothing environment. This is a very small restaurant and many of the tables you were sitting in very close proximity to your neighbors. You will hear their conversations and if you wanted to you could reach over and touch their table. Our server Jeanette M. was very kind while hustling around caring for many. She had a thorough knowledge of the menu and food. The fried pickles strings/fries were perfect. The breading was a delicious mix which was flavorful and crunchy. My debutante mixed beverage was cool and refreshing, it was not sour nor did it have an overwhelming taste of alcohol. Our meals were presented in a lovely manner, with beautiful execution. The problem came in as I was eating my brunch. My Grillades and Grits were served to me with a short thick black HAIR. This was very obviously not my hair. I quietly gave it to our server. I honestly expected her to say something or do something possibly even have a manager come over to the table to speak with us. But none of that happened. When not even a manager came over, I speculated maybe they would just comp my meal that did not happen. In fact there was no discount given on the ticket and no acknowledgment of hair in my $14 breakfast. It was a VERY disappointing way to handle this situation. I read earlier reviews and this was also the experience of other customers. Want to hear was found in their food it was completely overlooked...
