This one is rather close to my heart. I have a sentimental connection to Indian culture(s) for the simple fact that it was everywhere during my days at Tabor College. Students and professors were blessed to take the J-Term trip every year and I was so jealous! I also studied Hinduism and Buddhism for my major and I did a lot of reading about India. Lastly, I had lots of friends who had grown up exposed to the flavors of India as well as her neighbors like Nepal and Bhutan! The whole thing got me good and ready for my own taste, but I have learned the hard way that Indian eateries come and go in Kansas, but Passage to India is a game changer! It has been around for a while and even though it has changed hands, I think that is hardly a setback in the long-run! And the best part? I'm not really here to talk about lunch or dinner. I'm here to talk about the buffet 😁😁😁 Yes, Passage to India is one of those Indian places that serves a weekend lunch buffet! Take my advice, catch the buffet. Fill your plate with as much as you can, scarf it down in five to ten minutes, and then repeat the cycle. I have never gone back for fourth and fifth or even sixth helpings anywhere else! I was outta breath when it was over, but who cares??? Trust me, when Indian food is done well, it is so good, you stretch out your stomach for more! The foodbaby will pass! Even the water from the pitcher is flavored with a hint of lime and cucumber! It isn't uncommon to see Gulab Jamun at the buffet for dessert and it's soooo aromatic! The rosewater and cardamom are blissful! Look, if ever you have thought that you might be brave enough to pig out on food, save it for something Indian. It's not all fatty, it's not all spicy, it's not all curry, it's not all pungent, and it's not all made with things completely foreign and unfamiliar to a western palate! I'm telling you, it's so good that it's worth gorging yourself! 😅😅😅 Now that I have diverted your attention fanboying, let's get serious again. When you're not a gluttonous college kid raring to see the exotic things in this world, Passage to India is known for its relaxing atmosphere as a fine dining locale. Going on a dinner date? They got you! So be brave! It's...
Read more"The Most Pathetic customer service in Restaurant Business in USA." It was my 1st visit here, upon celebration of my Wife's Birthday, we got Insulted by server named 'Akruthi' in front of all Guests. We reached to restaurant by 7:30 PM, got seated by 8:00 PM, and order served by 8:30 to 8:45 PM. Up on re-ordering some food by 9:00 PM, we got informed that Kitchen is closed by 9:00. So 1st issue is, even-though we just started our Dinner in past 20 minutes or so, we were not informed that Kitchen was closing soon in case or reordering any food. Upon asking server (Akruthi) why we were not told that they were closing Kitchen in case if we need to order more, this is how sever-Akruthi responded with insulted arguing back very arrogently 'Didn't you see our Time sign out side!' in front of all Guest. She was talking to us as like we were there for FREE food and that would not be acceptable by any Customer. I already had ordered food for over $100 and paid in full without any argument(have attached receipt here as well). I kept on trying to reach out to responsible Manager(Rubi)/owner after that evening over the phone for a week, every day, to discuss the same, but they kept on ignoring coming to phone and didn't want to talk to me, telling they already know what happened and it was Customer's fault who missed behaved with their Server-Akruthi. (Pure example of Nepotism run by Management). Seems like Whole Management has neither respect nor value for Customer if customer comes across any issue under their services. You Go to restaurant to spend some good time with your Friends & Family, but not to ruin your time and to insult yourself in front of Group of known-unknown people. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going to...
Read moreAvoid eating here for lunch. I arrived at around 1:45. They close at 2:30. I asked whether I could order from menu rather than buffet, but I could read on the server’s expression that they aren’t set up to serve fresh food at lunch. She offered to ask the cook, but I told her I would play along and eat from the buffet. I tried a small sample of white seasoned rice, chicken tika masala, and a zucchini dish. The buffet items were bland, but I expected that on a buffet. The worst thing was the food was all room temperature (or slightly above) and appeared very stale. The rice had dried out enough to begin to harden. I would not be surprised if this was food they set out 3 hours before. Not only was the food bland, it was probably not really safe to eat by health department standards. Also, the buffet was not labeled, just a bunch of pans of crusty room temp mystery food and sauces. Maybe they do more business on weekdays and have fresh food? A friend of mine once shared some takeout from this restaurant and I enjoyed it, but this lunch buffet nonsense was among my worst restaurant...
