I came in around 4:30 on a Monday. I was the only customer. I was greeted and told it was open seating. It took a few minutes to get a menu, but I had seen photos of the menu here and had an idea of what I wanted. The server was just using the slow part of the day to catch up on side duties. I've also worked in restaurants, so I understood. No big deal.
I ordered the #1 pho and the spring rolls. Right after ordering, I was brought my drink, then rolls, then sides for my pho, and the pho itself all in delightfully quick secession, making up for the slight wait on a menu.
The rolls were larger than I expected. The were veggies crisp and refreshing, and the meat was tender. I really enjoyed the peanut sauce they came with. There's rolls defiantly helped me get my veggie fix. The pho was hot and inviting. I thought the broth seemed a bit mellow, but every place has their own flavor. The portion size was impressive. A medium size order of the pho turned out to be 2 servings for me, so I had soup and a roll leftover for later.
I read some other reviews than commented on service and cleanliness. The server was nice and was able to answer a couple questions I had, including identifying an odd leaf that came with the pho garnish tray. (It was culantro, similar to/related to cilantro.) My booth and table were clean, though the spinner tray holding the sauces and the sauce bottles, mostly the spouts, were a bit grimy, and the metal napkin dispenser had fingerprints on it. Really, those were the only messy spots. The store overall looked well kept -swept floors, no cobwebs, very clean dishes. After I came in, the dinner crowd started trickling in. The same young woman who served me proceeded to greet, seat, and serve every person who came through the door in a steady smooth clip with a clear voice and professional manner.
So overall, a good meal for a bland Monday with enough leftover for a second meal at home, all in a casual clean atmosphere for a good reasonable price (under $15). The only things missing were rain and a good book! I'll be...
Read moreFirst of all, I wanted to say that I like their fold, especially their spring rolls. But today I wanted to talk about customer service, so bad that I felt that I was being mistreated. I’ll tell you about 2 instances that I can remember. And it’s just 1 lady who treats me this way, and I cannot understand why. I came on a not-so-busy day and ordered pho without green onions. She brought me pho with green onions and I said politely that it was not my order. I speak Vietnamese so I am able to order in Vietnamese. She stared me down, then angrily took the bowl back to the kitchen. When she came back, she scolded me and blamed me for not telling her I did not want green onions. I was 110% certain that I told her because I have been ordering pho this way since I was 5 years old. Today I went for broken rice. I had asked another waitress that I wanted to eat my rice at the restaurant and 2 banh mis to-go. There must have been a misunderstanding somewhere because the lady, whom I’m talking about, brought me everything in to-go boxes. Again, very nicely, I asked if I could eat my rice at the restaurant because that’s what I had asked when I made my order. She threw me the box, told me I can sit there and eat, and walked away. I did not have a plate, or any utensils… So politely, I asked if I could have a plate and utensils. I could hear her badmouth me loudly in the kitchen. I know she knew I could understand Vietnamese because we have been speaking in Vietnamese. I watched her interact with other customers and I did not feel that she treated others the way she always treated me whenever I came in. I’ve always been polite and patient. I’ve never complained when my orders take half an hour. I always tip well. I really just don’t understand why. These 2 times are the ones I could remember, but I’ve been consistently treated badly by her every time I come. It’s so sad because i like their food but I am not sure if I can eat...
Read moreThis place has really good dim sum on Sundays. They just opened this location new a little over a month or so. I took off 2 stars because The service is terrible and being busy shouldn't be an excuse. Seeing that this place is always busy, they should be able to afford staff. My sister and I had to sit at an extended table connect to a big family, it was really awkward. We had to keep asking the family to pass us condiments because our table didn't have any and the wait staff made us share. We asked to move to a different table once another table is open, but they denied us because there was only 2 of us and a lot of people are waiting on tables. Honestly that is not my problem that people are waiting, I'm paying to eat at a restaurant comfortably. But obviously they only care about getting people in and out and neglected everything else. The wait staff and servers kept walking pass us and we literally have to wave them down to ask for food. I had to keep asking for water and other things, instead of someone checking on our table. I'm not asking them to be super attentive, but at least make sure we had water and get our order. I do give them full marks on the food, if you're OK with bad service and being ignored then this place should be ok for you. As for my experience I would give it a 0 star because of having to share a table with a family, not getting are food or water without aggressively getting the attention of the staff even though they have to consistently route and serve. But I give them a 4 star for their dum sum it's really good, but it's not good enough for me to go...
