I went there this past Saturday. As I had just started a new job and wanted to test myself to a nice lunch while running Saturday errands. Normally there is a line for lunch and a bit of a wait.. not this Saturday.. kind of packed yet? Not bad. I took my insulin shot and waited. After about 20 minute I flagged down the waitress .. She said: " I seen you we're just a lil busy". No worries.. I placed my order and waited. The guy sitting at the bar next to me said: The food is good but brace yourself for the wait. I've been here 45 minutes. After 20 minute they finally brought his food. 20 minute went by. No one even offered a complimentary drink. My insulin was kicking in. I could not continue to wait with no food. I decided to go up the street to Brauns. I offered to pay for the drinks before I left.. the busy waitress? declined my money and stated: " Don't come back". And I will not.. not EVER!! Plenty of places to eat here in Wichita.. Applebee's has a way...
Read moreLooking for a “Triple D” location and searching in Google, Ty’s came up as an option. We decided at about 1pm we would try before the 2:30p close time. On arrival, we had to stand in line for a few, waiting for one of the 10-15 tables to open (wasn’t a long wait - they seem to turn the tables over pretty quick). Our Server was one of the owners, another was at the open grill in the back. Service was WONDERFUL, very attentive and positive - even with the high pace. The menu is limited - but that just means there’s a higher chance of higher quality, which was what we got. I picked a patty melt, my coworker a Cheeseburger. Both were cooked well and not too greasy. We both also ordered a 1/4 basket of fries - don’t think that is a true description, it was plenty for one person. Especially since the fries were cut and cooked on order. Needless to say, the visit was perfect for the “diner” in the “Triple D” label! Worth a quick stop for a 50s-style...
Read moreStanding at the Keeper of the Plains on my day of exploring Wichita, my stomach grumbled. Google showed 12+ restaurants around me and I struggled to make a decision.
Enter, Ty's Diner. Hours, 11 AM - 2:30 PM. That's the sign that this place does not play around.
It was decided. I made the right decision, when I entered the place was packed to the gills and I'm glad I didn't have a party because bar was the only open seating.
Menu is stupid simple, I got a single patty cheeseburger and an order of "Frings" (fries + onion rings) the waitress was kind enough to cut my Fring order in half, warning me a full order was more than enough to share.
I was stuffed when I left and the ladies imitated, in the sweetest way, my showboat southern accent as I walked out the door it left a smile on my face.
Can't recommend this place enough, locals, I apologize if this brings more bodies in....
