We came in (a table of two) on a busy Friday night. We got a table right away, but sat for quite a while before anyone came to our table. We expected a wait, but it was quite some time before our waiter came. This is where the negative ends. Our waiter, Stefan, came over and immediately apologized for the delay. (He was at a table of 7 before he came to introduce himself to us, so it’s more than understandable, he was very busy). He knew we’d been there for a while, so he asked if we were ready to order. Some waitstaff wisk away right after drink orders, leaving you waiting again, but Stefan did not. He was so personable and fun, I knew right away it would be an enjoyable experience. Our drinks arrived less than a minute later. Followed immediately by a basket of biscuits. (I’ve had many visits to Cracker Barrel where I either never receive biscuits, or have to ask for them, so this was a welcomed surprise.) He whisked away on the heels of our thank you’s. When he passed by again he must have noticed that there was no jelly in our basket, because he stopped to ask us if we would like some, and what flavor. I have NEVER been asked what flavor jelly I would like. This blew me out of the water, especially because I always seem to get a handful of grape, and grape makes me sad. Our salads came not long after, with a smile and some light joking from our waiter. Soon after our food came. - This is one of my biggest gripes with Cracker Barrel; the main dish always comes out mere minutes after the salad, so the foods starts getting cold while you’re trying to eat salad as quickly as you can.- Stefan apologized, and asked us a few times if we needed anything else. He checked back with us several times in passing, and even saw my drink getting low and brought me another without my even realizing that I was going to need more soon. The entire time we dined Stefan checked in with us, joked with us, and honestly seemed to enjoy his job. He was happy, and engaging the entire time. He was truly the highlight of our entire visit. The food was great, the temperature inside was comfortable, and everything went off as it should. But, the standout was our waiter, Stefan. I hope he, or someone else sees this, and lets him know just how valued his engagement and demeanor were to us, the German and her dining...
Read moreHad supper at Cracker Barrel tonight, the food was good. Had their fish & shrimp special dinner which tasted good, but they served half the amount of fish we got a couple weeks ago. Was very disappointed. Mentioned it to the waitress, I might have just talked to the wall from the reaction I got from here. Won't order this dinner again. Also bought a Pa post card and was charged 1.99 which seemed overpriced for a plain post card. Wasn't worth it
Wife and I stopped at Cracker Barrel today Friday, 3/29/2024 and ordered the Country Coastal Sampler Seafood Meal. The meal tasted good, but they did the same thing again this year as last year and gave us half or less of the fish we got a couple weeks ago. It looked like instead of giving us two pieces of fish, they took one piece, cut it in half fried it and served it to us. Mentioned it to the waitress, but again no results. This shrinkflation is for the birds.
Stopped at Cracker Barrel this morning, 9/23/2004 for breakfast. The meat portion size I received was smaller than on the menu for Grandmas pancakes and my meat especially the bacon was overcooked. My wife's sausage was also overcooked and burnt on the bottom. The peach topping you couldn't taste the peaches because of the cinnamon flavor on the liquid overwhelmed the flavor of the peaches. Our waitress, Corinne D was terrible. We asked for a couple minutes to select our food, but seemed like it took her ten minutes to come back. Never checked if we wanted a coffee refill till our breakfast came. I also ordered the fruit cup and when she delivered the food she didn't bring the food cup. When I realized it she didn't come back for over fifteen minutes. So I told her to forget it and take it off the bill. When she delivered the food I asked for the bill and that didn't come for over fifteen minutes. There was also another older taller waitress who seemed like she was doing an excellent job serving many customers besides seating customers who...
Read moreWe were heading back home from Cape Cod; another several hundred miles to go. It was a rainy, foggy night on rte 81 in Pa.; so we decided to get off the road & have a meal about 7:45 p.m. to break up the ride, through all the construction. Staff appeared to be cleaning up; limiting seating to one area. Waitress was pleasant & accommodating to these weary travelers, after what was probably a long day for her. My husband ordered the grilled catfish with green beans & Cole slaw. I had the Turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, cranberry & squash with pecans. For the hour of the day, staff trying to clean up & tend to wet stragglers coming in the door, the food was on point, good portions, hot & tasty. BUT...Ok..one pet peeve here I have to comment on is Cracker Barrels "generic" stuffing recipe..nationwide; & this is probably because I am at an older age, where I've had a lot of people to our house for Thanksgiving over the years. Their stuffing is very generic & mushy. I get it, that making a good stuffing can be labor intensive & chains want consistency & easy. But children fought over my leftover stuffing. ( Not bragging, but not kidding.) A little more savory herbs..celery, onions might make it less..bland & not like its been run through a food blender. Personally..I like to add some sage sausage, diced, sauteed apple in the mix ( throw it in while sautéing in butter the celary & onion ) & a squeeze of citus/ orange to brighten it up. Am I being a PITA? Yes, probably. But still, nonetheless, a happy hours respite for these tired travelers. I'd give this one 4.5 stars out of 5 because it is what its meant to be...not fine dining, but a chain offering a decent meal ( comfort food) at a decent price, off the highway for weary travelers &...
