This motel is clean, bug free, affordable and in a good location. Standard room about 60$ but very, very small. No where to hang clothes except for a small bar behind TV. No dresser. No microwave or fridge. I upgraded to a kitchenette for an extra 30$ per night. Came with a 2 burner stove top, microwave and full size fridge but no cookware/silverwear, bowls or glasses! No coffee maker. I was shocked! Ridiculous! Many reviews express same sentiment. Who travels with frying pans and silverware? Sink in bathroom didn't drain and other reviews stated same thing. Many were from a few months ago. Should of been resolved by now if you are to believe owners response...Advertised as pet friendly with restrictions and states weight limit on dogs which leads one to believe that is the restriction they refer to . When I checked in I was told dogs can only stay 4 nights. (Small 11lb shih tzu and I am travel nurse who was helping community. Asked why it isn't posted on Motel 6 website, and was told it is on the Expedia website. So what? Motel 6 has an obligation to let customers know of policy! Website was going to accept reservation for 14 days that clearly stated I had a dog. Checked Expedia and it's not posted and regardless, it should be on motel 6 website! Charged 60$ damage deposit on credit card upon checking in. Most hotels that have this policy place a hold on cc for the amount and list it as a pending charge. It falls off after check out if no damages occur. My cc was actually charged the amount at time of check in. I was told it would be refunded in 7-10 buisness days. What gives them the right to use my funds for over a week when no damages occurred? ? I fully understand the need to protect property but this should fall off immediately at check out. I was hit up in parking lot to help a couple who was 20$ short for a room. I reminded them that they would also need the 60$ deposit and they said the front desk said they would waive it. I'm using a major credit card, was there as a travel nurse to help local community and charged? Not fair and wrong on many levels! Check in was fast and easy, lobby clean with vending machines for snacks and drinks. 1 machine was out of order. Water pressure in shower great with adequate hot water. Bottom line, fine for a few days but don't bother getting kitchenette unless u have frying pan in your bag. No iron, no hairdryer, no shampoo/conditioner. Cheap motel 6 small bars of soap. Towels basic but plentiful. For 100$ a night i expected a bit more.... Heater/Air was very noisy. Bathroom fan is connected to bathroom light, very loud! Radiator very loud but adeqate. Would I stay again? Yes but wouldn't bother upgrading. Hope it stays clean and hope manager/owner listens to complaints and fixes bathroom drains otherwise I fear it may become another...
Read moreI have spent six nights at this particular Motel 6 spread out over the last three weeks, as I've been required to be in the Wilkes-Barre area for work. On the whole, my experience here has been rather pleasant, and I suspect that anyone looking for cheap accommodations in a newly built hotel would do well to choose this one. There are, however, a few items to make yourself aware of before booking. First, after having spent time in a dozen or so hotels this year (all of them among the cheapest in their respective areas), this is the only one to not have a fridge and microwave in every room. I knew this going in, and the hotel makes no secret of it, but it did add a layer of decision making to each night's booking; would I be eating out (there are countless restaurants in the immediate area, though, since I was solo dining, the Chinese Buffet across the street in the Walmart plaza was as adventurous as I got), and require only the cheapest of rooms? Or would I stop at the Wegmans one street down and pick up something requiring a bit of preparation? The kitchenette in the higher priced rooms is quite nice, but as a tip, I'd advise that if all you need is to microwave something, they have one available in the lobby. Second, I have two minor quibbles with the showers. While they are nice no-step affairs, the water pressure is somewhat lacking, and the water doesn't get hot enough for my liking. This is not to say that you'll be taking cold showers. The upper reaches of the hotel's temperature spectrum is perfectly comfortable, but some of us require a bit of a scalding from time to time. Third, no tissues in the room. I found myself resorting to using toilet paper to blow my nose. The rooms were nearly always meticulously clean, with the sole exception of a single cleaning rag being present in the sink of the kitchenette upon on of my check-ins. No big deal. The staff were always professionally friendly, but not familiarly so, never really acknowledging my repeat business, or engaging in conversation beyond exchanging pleasantries. This is actually a plus in my books. The WiFi always performed admirably. There's a login splash page to input the password provided on the bit of paper wrapped around the key, but after that, it was seamless. I had no dropped connections or slow speeds in any of my rooms, which were spread throughout the property. In an area with dozens of hotels within a few square miles, the Motel 6 managed to keep me coming back, and that's...
Read moreIt was such a nice experience. We had an emergency after a bad storm in our home and had to vacate for the night. We were told 2 days, so we booked 2 days - the one and only issue we had was "do u accept pets?" Because on the site it says they do, but then I was reading mixed reviews on,"only certain hotels accept." I didn't want to book and show up to be turned away with my son and the dog on top of having knee troubles. So I called, and it felt like the lady was more focused on me paying for 2 nights with her and not booking online vs. answering my questions. That's the only issue I had. I couldn't leave my dog in the house because if the house caught fire, she wouldn't have made it, so it was definitely needed to bring the dog. I didn't find out until I booked and showed up! They do charge a 50 dollar pet deposit fee, which we found out when we got there. That aside, it was a really nice stay. We only needed one night. The manager was really nice, and let me tell ya - had a lot of patience. I was such a mess dealing with all the trauma going on, I must've asked him the same questions 10 different times, and he explained the answer every time, with no frustration.
The hotel was clean, the environment was friendly, and we did feel welcomed. We were greeted with a welcome! And a smile, to me, that made a difference. Other people had pets as well, and there wasn't a dog smell or animal smell - if that makes sense. There weren't any barking or loud noises all night. It was peaceful. It was like a little break from life for a night. They also have fast food places, basically in the next parking lot. Walmart across the street, very convenient location. Thank you...
