Arrived at 2pm on Fri. 8-7-15 and asked if we could check in early, was told room wasn't ready but they would give us a room upgrade for free, a $10 a night freeby, for a 2 night stay. Shortly after checking in, noticed a lot of truck noise on interstate, asked for another room on front side of hotel and mgr.gave us an attitude. Once we got to new room, found that tv remote wouldn't work, had to call desk 3 times to finally get someone to come up to program remote, we then went out for night. That same night, found remote to work, but not right. Next day, mgr.got an attitude again, then finally gave us a remote that worked properly. Sat. went out all day, got back about 5pm, parked in back, room key wouldn't work, walked around to front entrance, woman at front desk was very nice, she reprogrammed key, still no work, programmed a new card, still no work, finally she did not copy orig. card, reprogrammed for 2nd night, then it worked, she was very nice, apologetic, etc.The hotel mgr. only programmed orig. key cards for 1 night instead of 2. On Fri. I signed up for an Honor Club card, was told they would slide it under our door, they never did, I wanted to get points onto my card for that stay. At that point I was fustrated with our experience, plus on morning of checkout the mgr. was staying away from desk, so I left room keys and list of inadequacies on desk and left. Funny thing is on front desk counter has engraved that if not 100% satisfied your stay is free, but isn't going to happen unless I was to act like an idiot. My wife and I have stayed at many hotels in the past and never did we get treated this way, nice hotel, clean room,...
Read moreFront desk staff was extremely warm and inviting. Hot breakfast buffet was one of the best of any hotel I've stayed at in recent times. Plenty of other hotels are using the COVID excuse to not serve a fantastic hot breakfast. Not Hampton Inn. Other chains need to take a lesson from them. You can still have a hot breakfast buffet and maintain safety for your guests. The pool and hot tub area was nice, clean, and well stocked on towels for guests. Our room was extremely clean, with signs on all frequently touched surfaces letting you know how they were cleaned with Lysol for guest safety. I personally witnessed the lobby staff using Lysol to clean the breakfast area, door handles, credit card readers, etc., to ensure guest safety. You can tell this is top priority and it's not unnoticed and appreciated during these tough times. The bed in our room, as we've grown accustomed to at Hampton Inns all over, was extremely comfortable and the pillows were fantastic, ensuring a great night of sleep. It's a shame I cannot give more than five stars for this location. You can tell the staff here really goes above and beyond to maintain a cozy, clean, family friendly environment. I will absolutely be back to this location, should I visit the area again. Thank you for a...
Read moreI stayed with my family at this Hampton Inn on 876 Schechter Dr. in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania from August 17-19, 2018. We took a "suite" which was just a large room with a king bed and sofa bed and we also got a porta-crib. Good enough size. We got in around 7pm after an 8 hour drive. The bed was fine but the sofa bed was beyond awful. Not really a matress at all, just covered springs. When we called to complain they brought us 2 thick duvets which we had to put on the bed ourselves. Luckily when folded in 3 they kind of did the trick. The crib did not come with a crib sheet. They just gave us a large sheet to wrap around the matress, Luckily we had brought our own fitted matress cover. We used the pool and hot tub all morning which was great. The breakfast buffet was sufficient. We left a lunch time and got back late after dinner only to find that, while the towels had been replaced, they did not make the beds. Too tired to call front desk, we just made them ourselves before going to sleep. We have travelled extensively and have stayed at numerous Hampton Inns in the past, but none was as very expensive or as terrible as this one. Needless to say, we will never stay at a...
