Castle Street kitchen is a nice burger spot with a brunch offering. Parking was difficult on a Saturday around 1 pm and needed to park about 2 blocks away. Service was fine given it was busy. Good atmosphere. The entire street facing wall was open, letting in plenty of sun and fresh air. Ordered the Hangover Totchos (carnitas and fried eggs over tater tots) and Spicy Cluck biscuit from the Brunch Menu (available till 2 pm) to share as appetizers. These were enjoyable and polished off quickly. For the main course, we all ordered burgers: Asiago Melt, Chile Crunch and a regular burger, all with side of Mac n Cheese and fries. Burgers were better than your average and definitely better than the typical fast food burgers. Found it impressive that they were not greasy in the least bit. The Mac n Cheese was somewhat sticky, dry and a bit flavorless unfortunately. I came away enjoying the Spicy Cluck Biscuit the most. I found it to be better than most chicken biscuits I've had. Of everything we tried, I would most likely order the Spicy Cluck Biscuit again without hesitation. Overall, good experience and would recommend.

I can't count the number of times that I have walked or driven by this restaurant, before finally stopping in. Castle Street Kitchen presents a friendly bar atmosphere with a gourmet chef's menu. The waiters were very friendly and greeted every customer as a returning friend. There is a quaint lounge in the back that allows you to chill in a more intimate setting. The food is on another level and delicious! The first night, we ordered House Tacos (pork) with macaroni & cheese and the Sweet Potato Fry appetizer. We returned the next day for lunch in hopes that I could order more House Tacos (pork). Yes, they are that good that I thought about them. We also ordered the Asian Sliders, which were very good. If you would like a friendly atmosphere and gourmet food I recommend that you stop by Castle Street Kitchen. Warning...their drinks are strong and worth it.

Great new place in a quaint neighborhood with vintage markets. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We started with chips, guacamole and tomatillo salsa. The salsa was bright and flavorful. The guacamole had large chunks of avocado and was creamy but certainly could have used some salt and lime juice. The seared tuna salad with lemon ginger vinaigrette had the ginger kick. Large pieces of red pepper and avocado finished it off. The enchilada sando was slightly spicy stuffed full of tender chicken. The side of macaroni and cheese was creamy, cheesy and had the right amount of seasoning. The restaurant was busy and the staff was constantly on the move. Great addition to the area and we will definitely be back again.

I wanted to share with you that I went back to Castle Street Kitchen this week and I took a friend who had never been there. She and I are foodies so she had already looked at the menu and was very excited by what she saw. I like to review it once I get there and see what's going on. And the special of the day captured my mind and my belly. I can't remember what she called it but it was white on white I think. And it was a white bean burger, with barbecue sauce, cheese, fried. Jalapenos and a side dish. I picked the macaroni and cheese, because she said it was better than her mother's, which is usually a high recommendation for anyone. It was fantastic. So good that I ordered another one to take home for dinner. For $3. It was a great decision. My friend ordered the crunchy burger. I think it was called and she loved it. She had also wanted to try either their tater tots or french fries and the waitress suggested the french fries while they were very good. I don't think they were anything to ride home about. I think next time she's going to try the tater tots. The menu has so many fun and exciting things to try that aren't what you find at any other restaurant. They have Tomato Pie that sounded really good. It's probably towards the top of what I'll try next! We went on a Thursday at 11:30 because we like to beat the crowd. Much to our surprise and a smidge of our dismay, it was not crowded at all until around 12:30 when eople started coming in. The other times I had been there it was standing room only and very crowded. I think people might be afraid because they think there's not adequate parking. There is. If it's not available right out front, there is a parking lot across the street or another grassy lot that allows parking. People get nervous about coming downtown because there won't be anywhere to park, don't worry about it. I also wanted to mention the outstanding weight stuff. She took care of her every need and although it wasn't busy, she still was very attentive and seemed to really care that we enjoyed our food. Come downtown and see this restaurant. They deserve...

My husband and I have been here a few times. We even suggested it to our friends. Although our lovely neighbors, couple of ladies said they did have a bad experience. They are promoting that they are Gay friendly. I guess telling us to leave after the waitress can't figure out how to tell the cook what "no cheese" means. My husband's food had cheese, it was returned then came back with more cheese on his salad and burger too! The waitress then told my husband next time tell the waitress to tell that he is lactose intolerant. He doesn't have to say anything but to say no cheese period. So we were blamed for their mistake and apparently you can't react strongly because they are easily offended. I guess it was easier for the cook pretending to be the owner to tell us to leave.Karma will happen to this establishment. I had to write this review and karma saw what happened and the universe will take care of it. Restaurants don't last forever. We are an interracial gay couple and I hate to say this but it's the truth, here in the South they will pretend to be nice to your face but when they don't want to hear the truth and that they made the mistake they will blame you and in this case told us to leave so they can justified their rude behavior. Lastly, get a pen that works so your waitress can write the order properly and make sure your servers are not on any medication, because she looked like she took way to many of her mood pills. She looked strung out on her meds. We are going to tell our friends to stay clear of Castle Street Kitchen. Bless...

After several good visits over the years to this neighborhood restaurant — close to our first home when we moved to Wilmington 15 years ago — we stopped in for a couple of burgers on a quiet Wednesday. There were only two other tables seated, yet our food took nearly 30 minutes to arrive.

I had clearly ordered a portabello burger with fries and a side salad, all without cheese — I mentioned it three times to the waitress. When the food finally came, both the salad and the burger had cheese. I explained that I couldn’t eat them and requested the order be corrected. The waitress claimed I should have told her I was lactose intolerant, but I hadn't wanted to get into that — my request was simple and clear: no cheese. She also informed me, only then, that the onion rings were fried in buttermilk — something I wasn’t told when ordering, but which I hadn't planned on eating anyway.

The food was taken back, and five minutes later returned with even more cheese than before! Then the owner came out and again told us about the buttermilk in the onion rings. It was clear we’d be waiting another 20 minutes for a proper meal. Frustrated by the repeated mistakes and the long delay, my husband expressed his frustration aloud. Rather than apologizing or trying to resolve the issue, the owner scolded us and asked us to leave — an overreaction that capped off an already disappointing experience.

I’ve never been asked to leave a restaurant before, and I won’t...
