The stay was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I've stayed at quite a few bnb's in my life and this place takes the cake. Jeff is one of the most personable and caring curators I've ever met and his wife Jen is amazing behind the scenes with property management. The rooms were spotlesly clean, accommodating, and comfortable; the furniture brought an elegant, modern touch to the Victorian setting. AND THE BREAKFAST. You would swear there must be a four Michelin star chef in the kitchen with the taste, placement, and quality of the three course breakfasts. They even elevated a simple half grapefruit into a high class dish worthy of rave reviews. Grilled, seasoned, and presented in fashion that wowed the palate. It was among but one of the dishes that blew my mind with elegance and innovative concepts of breakfast. Fresh made muffins with real ingredients, seasoned fruit salad, baguette French toast, asparagus and goat cheese quiche, ham and cheese egg roundlets; only to name a few of the decadent courses offered. The menu is set daily, posted in the dining room for guest perusal the day before, and served from 9-10 with coffee and orange juice to accompany. Each day they also host a wine hour from 5-6pm, red and white wines chosen and served by Jeff. And let me tell you, this man is a master of conversation. He intently listens and offers wonderful advice and camaraderie. Even when I got hammered on a pub crawl on Front Street (three blocks walk away and a main drag of awesome pubs, bars, and restaurants) and came back drunkenly exonerating on subjects including local beer and scenery, he intently listened and offered his own experiences with such. The man feels like a friend from the first conversation and is wise in his mannerisms. I decided to finish with discussing the back garden because it was part of several transcendent experiences during my visit. It's peaceful on the kind of level that can soothe even a stressed, stormy brain. The landscaping is impeccable and the fountain exudes a gentle peace that pairs perfectly with a glass of wine. Ample, comfortable seating is available throughout the yard and the back parking is equally accessible through it. Curbside parking in the front is also available. In my humble opinion, if you enjoy a good BnB; this place is one of the best I've ever been to. A must check out (or should I say check in?) for the Bed and Breakfast connoisseur. 12/10...
Read moreWe stayed at the C. W. Worth House Bed and Breakfast on Valentine’s weekend 2015. After securing reservations there I began my Google search of the area to arrange the best ever Valentine’s weekend for my significant other. As I would decide on places that I thought would provide the best dining experience I would email our hostess Margi and she immediately made our reservations. I interacted with her and Doug for about two weeks before our arrival and even though I thought I might be pestering them, they did not seem to mind. We were supposed to arrive in Wilmington around 8 o’clock and they had also arranged for our late arrival. However, things went well that Friday and we arrived around 6:30pm. Our host Doug literally ran to greet us as we rang the doorbell. Margi and Doug are literally the personification of the much used cliché “Southern Hospitality”. We reserved the Azalea Room and it was so beautiful. It is within the turret on the second floor and that side of the room has circular walls with four big windows overlooking 3rd Street. Our hosts had even placed an extra heater in our room because they thought the windows might let in too much air. It was nice and toasty in there as we entered, but since we are used to the mountains we didn’t need the extra heat. Our stay was sensational to say the least. We had all of the amenities that anyone could want right there in our room or just outside the door. Our hosts were very accommodating at every turn. The breakfast each morning was fabulous, fulfilling, and very flavorsome. As we walked around Wilmington over the weekend we observed several bed and breakfasts and other places of lodging. However, if you want to impress the one you love then I suggest that you call Margi & Doug at the C.W. Worth House Bed and Breakfast for your next...
Read moreI stayed at C.W. Worth BnB for two nights while visiting with my niece who lives in Wilmington. The home has so much character from the moment you pass through the gate. Each of the rooms (common areas and bedrooms) are beautifully appointed and there are wonderful touches on every floor. A self serve coffee bar and water/ice dispenser available at all times is a nice touch. ||I stayed in the Turret room which is on the third floor. The bed and linens were very comfortable and provided for an excellent night’s sleep. The bathroom was huge with wonderfully plush (and plentiful) towels. ||Breakfast on Saturday was nothing short of delightful, fresh and made with the same love that Jennifer and Jeff have obviously put into this amazing home. After breakfast, I enjoyed some downtime in the parlor enjoying another cup of coffee and listening to the sweet sounds of jazz. Because of my early departure on Sunday I only had breakfast on Saturday but Jeff offered to make me a to go package to take with me Sunday morning, which was so thoughtful. ||I highly recommend this lovely property if you are in Wilmington. It’s within walking distance to downtown, the river walk, restaurants and shops, but out of earshot of the noise of the lively clubs and bars downtown (which were also very fun!). This property is peaceful, historical, in a great location and very comfortable with the added bonus of plenty of street parking. ||Thank you...
