Well.. we are visiting Wilmington for the week and we decided to stop and check this place out. We stopped out front and asked the nice girl who worked there with the Kilwin’s shirt on if it was okay to bring our trained labradoodles in while we shop local for good ice cream. She checked and stated yes. We even walked in and asked again to make sure we didn’t hear her wrong and she stated yes again. We get up to the counter to order and the girl behind the counter who wasn’t even taking our order came up rudely while we were ordering (mind you our pups are trained, I’m a law enforcement officer, and we made sure before walking in that it was allowed being that we aren’t from the area. She told us “we don’t allow large dogs, only small ones you can hold”. I found this to be rude and clearly the miscommunication in the first place was ridiculous. Don’t tell me that, tell your staff who said it was okay. I also want to mention that she had asked if the girl was Hispanic to know who we asked in the first place. And followed with “oh she’s new”. Well newly trained staff should know the rules correct? But hey next time we will definitely take our business elsewhere and give to the local ice cream place down the street (Gelarto) who was very sweet and kind towards our calm, trained pups! Also want to add, as my fiancé and I were leaving I saw her talking about me to her fellow coworker about me and pointing at me. Brown hair, in pig- tails. I truly wish I would’ve got the name, but I couldn’t check it because she was too busy giving me miscommunication and judgement over her own staff and rules. Hopefully this helps train your own...
Read moreBEWARE IF THIS TOURIST TRAP RIP OFF !! IF YOU READ YHE RESPONSES ON THE LOW REVIEWS ITS THE SAME GENERIC RESPONSE everyone yet they don't doe anything to lower prices and raise portions......... THEY JUST DONT CARE....It's most likely not the Original Kilwins owners. Apparently it's their kids or someone bought them out. They have made so much money raising prices $3-5 per cone in Wilmington they opened a second location. At the customers expense!!!!
COSTCO HAS ICE CREAM SUNDAYS FOR $1.50 BETTER TTHAN THIS PLACE !Yeah this place has gotten greedy and needy. I've worked in the Wilmington tourism industry 20 years and will no longer recommend kilwins. $11 for a half filled waffle cone with what they say is 2 scoups but is still below the waffle cone. It used to be 1 scouo a full cone now 2 scouts forr $11 doesn't fill the whole cone. I used to enjoy this place as a. Local and recommend it not it's just a tourist trap that's over priced and rips people off . SHAME ON THE OWNERS AND MANAGEMENT. INFLATION HAS NOT GONE UP SO.MUCH YOU NEED TO CHARGE $11 FOR A HALF FILLED WAFFLE CONE. I am telling all my patrons to avoid your location shame on you Kilwins THERE IS BO EXCUSE FOR YHE ORICE HIKE AND LOWER PORTIONS. You can't even get 2 flavors now in 1 cone without the huge...
Read more🍦🍨🍪🍫Rude Cashier Stadf is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. After purchasing our ice cream, we decided that we wanted something else. Kilwins in downtown Wilmington, NC is very tiny. Therefore, I'm sure that these 3 workers can see each other from each station. Especially bc the girl who rung up our ice cream is standing adjacent to the 2 girls at the candy station, come on. The candy girl didn't say hello or smile, she asked rudely, "did you already pay for that?" Looking at our ice cream. The implication was that you thought we hadn't paid, WOW! Instead of asking with a smile, "hello, which candies would you like?" I'm done giving this place a chance, time & time again. The ice cream is old & overpriced. Why aren't you wearing gloves & a hair net? Just gross! What do you mean, "dine in or take out?" There's no cozy cuteseating here, like other fancy ice cream shops. Why is this question on this review? You're embarrassing yourself. There's only ice cream, cookies & candies here. Why are you asking if we had breakfast, lunch or dinner? Ummm NO! My tip of the day! Go to the grocery store, buy your favorite ice cream, cookies & candy & put them in a fun bowl for you & your family/friends. Even if you're on...
