My wife, my in-laws and myself were walking around downtown Wilmington when we all decided it was time for something to eat. We decided on Fork and Cork but the wait was too long so we decided to go across the street to Slice of Life. We walked in and sat ourselves and it wasn’t too long before our server “AM” arrived to take our drink orders. My wife ordered half and half teas for herself, our grandson and me. Our waitress promptly asked “What’s that?” Not “which version?”, not “with tea or lemonade?”, and certainly “tea?” This should have been our first hint that being a waitress was not “AM’s” calling in life. Our drink orders arrived without issue and our waitress took our orders. My wife ordered a medium White Pizza for herself and her mother and I ordered a medium pizza with sausage, bacon, mushrooms and red onion. Eventually I excused myself to go to the bathroom and in the interim, our order arrived. When our order arrived, we received two medium white pizza’s with sausage, bacon, mushrooms and red onion. When my wife questioned our waitress about the order, she insisted that the bastardized white pizza’s in front of us was indeed what I ordered. At this point, everyone just went with it and was halfway through the first pizza by the time I returned. So the good news here is that the pizza turned out to be pretty good. The crust had good flavor and the right amount of crunch and the toppings were fresh and delicious. While the pizza was the saving grace of this little story, the pricing was another stick in the eye for Slice of Life. Because of the price of the white pizza and the expense of the additional toppings, our dinner was about 20 dollars more expensive than it should have been due to our waitress’s bungle. No offer of a fix by the waitress was offered and she was insistent that the delicious abomination pizza’s were indeed what we ordered. So, the bottom line for Slice of Life is that they are worth a try but make sure that your order is 100 percent correct or make sure that “AM” is either not working or has managed to get herself fired which I would think is the preferred response to her...
Read moreIn reading the recent reviews it appears someone else has fallen victim to the "I forgot to put your order in, sorry!" Story. My husband and our four children are visiting and wanted to pick a place the kids wanted to eat. They chose pizza and this place looked nice and wasn't busy. We walked right in and got a table and was greeted by a very nice waitress. She took our drink order (water) and came back ten minutes later with our ups. I was about to get frustrated with the length of wait for water but let it go. We ordered one large white pizza and a one slice with ham and pineapple. Simple enough I would say. As we sat and waited for our pizza more patrons started filling up the small dining area and soon the place was full. By the time we had been in there for about 40 minutes the waitress came over and assured us that we would have our pizza over soon. Our 8 month old baby was starting to get fussy and didn't want to sit down anymore. As we started to notice that all the large families around us were getting their food I started to get mad. My husband was outside with our baby at this point, our other kids were starving and we had been waiting for 50 minutes. I asked our waitress why were the only ones not getting our food and she responded that she had forgotten to put our order in and so it just started to get made. Her demeanor changed was all of a sudden short and rude to me as if I messed up. I was obviously upset at this news and told her that if these sorts of things happen she should tell the customer instead of ignoring them and making then wonder. An additional 30 minutes passed before we got our pizza. I ate first and then went outside to trade with my husband so he could eat. It was disappointing to not be able to enjoy lunch with my husband. I do have to say, this pizza was amazing! I am incredibly bummed we had such bad service and that our waitress wasn't more professional about it. With so many pizza choices in the area, we wont be back. Walk a little farther down the road. Service...
Read moreOrdered one slice of pizza. Waited over 15 mins and paid with a 5 and told to keep the change. I watched two groups of people come in and get there pizza after ordering my own and still hadn’t received it. I then went up to counter and said that I’d take any kind of slice (even though I got the 4$ slice). Was ignored. I stormed out realized I forgot my book bag and longboard. Went directly back in and asked for my 5$ back and was told to leave. (My Uber was waiting for me.) It was Thursday night around 11-12. After they refused to give me my money or my pizza I was irate and pushed over a pitcher of water. Was then physical attacked and punched by 3 or 4 guys and then they refused to give back my board or book bag and now 1000 dollar phone that was dropped. I yelled for police and help. They told me my things were around the side. I went to the side and was taunted through the locked door and still not given my things. I then went back to front door which was held closed by men. I forced it open because I wasn’t going to let anyone bully me for my things and when got door open was attacked again so I maced my attackers along with a few innocent bistandards. (But I wasn’t going to let anyone take my things or leave the store to find police and risk the items taken and hidden) I was forced back out and then proceeded to yell for help. When police finally arrived they arrested me without asking me anything. The police then seemed sympathetic after I was already charged and my truth finally came out. By then it was to late. I had to pay a 2500$ bond and lost 300$+ in items and money because I never got my book bag returned. I’ve never been treated so unkind. I was not drunk or had even had a drink in over a hour and had a total of 3-4 beers the entire night. I...
