Merchant Bar — Restaurant in Wilmington

Food is terrific, but the service leaves much to be desired. On our first visit, our open table reservation was lost without explanation. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait long to be seated. But when we did finally have a server join us, we mentioned that we would need to be conscious of timing since we were seeing a show at 8pm. The server responds with "yea, you and everyone else". WHAT? I get it, many of your customers dine before going out for entertainment, but the attitude wasn't necessary. And that's why we made a reservation, so we wouldn't have to rush.

Sadly, we had to wave down a different server so that our food order could be taken since the one taking care of our table didn't return after dropping off our drinks.

I don't know if we just happened to have the one bad server, or catch her on her worst day... But I probably won't return. There are plenty of other restaurants that are willing to appreciate...

The atmosphere and lighting is so cool! Second time there. Loved the drinks and food was great. Waitress seemed to not want to be there. Had a party of 10 who unfortunately were arriving at various times and maybe she was disturbed by that?? Saw her rolling her eyes and obviously wasn't happy about having to attend to us. We went to concert across the street and tried to come back after concert And for a couple more drinks, now there were 16 of us, and we were told they weren't serving anymore?? It was 10:45pm We were a little surprised that a place right across from a concert venue would not take advantage of the extra sales that would take place after the event?? Anyway, you missed out on about...

Not impressed. I shared several small plates with a friend and had a few drinks. The food was fair, but pricey for the amount. The dessert (chocolate cake) was dry and inedible. There was a guy stumbling around drunk, who practically fell in my friend's lap and this was at only 9pm. Yet, despite all of this we still tipped more than 20% each. The following week, I noticed that my account had been charged more than I authorized. Essentially, it was as if I had given a 40% tip! My friend was charged the correct amount and tip. I did get the extra amount credited back to my account after filing a complaint with my bank. If you go, hang on to your receipt until the charge...
