I was initially debating between a 4-star and 5-star review due to some noise issues mentioned below, but this is such a beautiful and unique hotel, and because it really excelled in all other areas I went with a 5-star.||I'm not really familiar with Wilmington and chose the hotel for proximity to the gardens in Brandywine as there really are not a lot options and many were fully booked. I also liked what I read of reviews on TripAdvisor and our experience really matched those reviews. The hotel is in a beautiful old refurbished building and public spaces and rooms are truly unique, including the lobby (pic included), rooftop bar and the Simmer Down bar in basement. It also has a very good restaurant.||We were given a handicap access room which we didn't request, and it was huge with a large, but rather open and empty, bathroom that I assume is to provide easy wheelchair access. Although the room was fine for our 1 night, it would have been nice to be notified in advance and asked if we were OK with a handicap access room (I've suggested this separately on a hotel survey from the hotel, and they responded they would consider this going forward). The room was furnished with very cool, modern fixtures and the bed was excellent, large and firm and very plush bathrobes were provided as well. The room also included a LavAzza espresso machine which we made very good use of!||We stayed on a Friday night and the hotel is obviously VERY popular as the rooftop bar was already packed by 5pm and there was a high school reunion going on there as well (more on the associated noise below). As the evening was cool and this bar crowded we opted to check out the Simmer Down bar in the basement, which didn't open until 6. We had this to ourselves initially and sat next to the fire turning both our chairs toward it to warm up. Drink were excellent, if expensive at $20 each. There were no snacks, which kinda surprised us.||We had dinner reservations in the restaurant at 7 and enjoyed a very good meal of lamb pappardelle, delicious grilled branzino and some sides, all of which we shared as recommended. After the first few sides we wondered if there would be enough to fill us up, but after the pasta and branzini we were quite full. The service was very attentive, almost to the point of making us wonder if we were being rushed, though I don't believe that was the intent. ||The issue with the noise was that our room was near the elevator and for some reason the room door (which looked solid enough) did not block any of the noise coming from the hall, and as mentioned there was much partying going on that night and so up until around midnight we could hear loud groups coming off the elevators to go to their rooms. Once in their rooms it was very silent, so the issue appears to be with the door. As we didn't go to sleep until midnight it didn't really keep us awake and so wasn't a big deal.||Note that the hotel has valet parking for $45 which, coincidentally is the same discounted rate I paid the following night for parking in NYC, so it does seem a little high for Wilmington. In fact, I will say in general the hotel seemed pricey, but as I'm not familiar with Wilmington I don't know the range, and our dinner, which came out to $200 with tip seemed reasonable for the quality of food and that it included several glasses of wine, dessert and coffee/cappuccino.||This is great hotel and I highly recommend it, especially if you are on the younger side and looking for a little nightlife to go along...
Read moreI came here 7/25/2025 from out of state in Arizona to visit my family in Delaware. My cousin took me to this hotel bar, we went upstairs then she took me downstairs to the Simmer Down Bar. The worker with curly hair in a pony tail asked front ID and gave it a strange look right off the bat and told me that my ID was fake because it expires in 2064. I’m currently 26 years old and the state of Arizona drivers licenses don’t expire for a long time. You can simply search this up but I unfortunately did not have service in the speakeasy since it’s basically down underground. The worker became extremely rude when I told him I’m 26 years old and I’ve never had a problem with my drivers license before. He took my drivers license to the bar and showed another worker and started talking loudly with him and told literal customers at the bar about the situation and was repeatedly my birth year loudly! They all started laughing and he said out of his mouth “ITS SO FLIMSY TOO LIKE I COULD BREAK IT”. I found this VERY disrespectful and DANGEROUS. If I was actually underage is it smart to tell random men at a bar this? It was no one’s business. The worker was highly disrespectful and I was so confused because I wasn’t rude to him at all and I even questioned my own DL at one point like dang is it a typo? He came back to the table and said “yeah I can’t accept this it doesn’t make any sense how the expiration date is 2064. I’m going to give you a favor and give this back to you” ummm how did I get in the state of Delaware with a fake DL then?! I need my DL back I would have had to call the police. I went to the bar after he walked away and I asked him if he can have his supervisor come down. He rudely said “yeah i texted him but im going to need you to step away from the bar” the supervisor came down and looked at my DL and he was also uneducated on out of state DLS. I told the supervisor about the way his worker handled the situation and was giving my information out and he seemed to not really even care much and said “yeah well this is a 21 and up establishment so you can’t be here” I left with my cousin. We looked up the Drivers license laws in AZ and sure enough if you’re born in my year your DL is valid up to 65 years old. We ended up at kid Shelleens where the service was 10/10! The bartender at this excellent establishment said they should have a drivers license checker anyway to check my DL not sure why they didn’t. Overall I’m super disappointed and I have emailed and tried to reach out to someone higher up about this to discuss how both the worker and the supervisor handled this and how the worker put me in danger by speaking about my information...

I didn’t use the minbar and actually walked to Walgreens to buy a bottle of water because their minbar prices were insanely high. Forced to call and wait in hold to be told again I ate things I never did. The only thing this place is good for is location. So, if you stay there..BEWARE!!
Found myself headed to Wilmington, DE for a concert and wanted a nice hotel but did not want to be too far away from the concert venue or the train station. The Quoin Hotel checked all 3 boxes. The hotel is well appointed outside and the color palate of the lobby area was a welcoming pale pinkish mauve with gold and wood accents. I really really liked it. Check in was quick and I’m going to attribute that to the young woman working the front desk for the morning shift. The rooms are very clean, spacious and bright. On the flip side, the walls are paper thin. You can hear everything said and done in the hallway and rooms. Not sure if it’s completed renovations are undergoing them but there apparently was a leak as there was a noticeable unfinished (not painted, just spackle) repair in the bathroom shower ceiling. Also, it should be noted you are unable to control the temperature in the room as the control panel is locked. Interestingly enough while the room was cool, the air conditioning vent in the ceiling dripped water onto the desk which created a consistent dripping splattering sound throughout my stay. Regarding service. While the young lady who checked me in was pleasant the woman who worked the evening shift was absolutely the wrong person to be the face of the hotel greeting guests or answering questions. Her overall attitude gave off the air that she was a negative swamp and when she did engage she was curt, rude and unhelpful. The hotel does have a restaurant and rooftop bar. While I didn’t eat at the restaurant, I did visit the rooftop bar and was pleasantly surprised. It had a nice size outdoor space and a slick interior that instantly gave me a speakeasy vibe. All in all, if you need a nice hotel conveniently located, consider The...
