In my 10+ years of staying at Hilton, this is by far my worst experience and one of the most disgusting Hilton properties I've come across. To protect Hilton's customer loyalty and brand reputation, Hilton should investigate this property, replace the entire staff, remodel or close down this property. This is nowhere close to DoubleTree standards. Please see my highlighted points below along with supporting pictures. 1. I have a corporate rate at Hilton and my reservation came with breakfast. The front desk and reception did not honor the complimentary breakfast and decided to charge $15 per person for cardboard eggs and stale bread at the breakfast. I contacted Hilton customer service, who called the hotel's front desk FOUR times (mentioning breakfast is included in the reservation), but they still did not honor the breakfast. A formal complaint with Hilton (ticket number 244789924) was filed with Hilton, but there was no response to it. 2. The front desk lady (Tiana) is the rudest person you will ever come across. After not willing to offer breakfast, she went on to say - since you are booked in an executive room and our lounge access is closed, we can offer you bar coupons. NO bar coupons were offered by the receptionist. Additionally, when Hilton tried to contact her at the front desk, she went on to slam the phone in front of me. There is no point in showing frustration at your customer. I'm just asking for what I paid for since the customer service team repeatedly mentioned the hotel should honor breakfast. 3. Rooms are full of dust and not cleaned. We were sneezing throughout your stay. I recommend carrying a bunch of allergy medications when booking a reservation here. The carpet in the hallway smells big time, which can cause serious respiratory issues. The air conditioner in the room makes weird noises which wouldn't let you sleep. 4. Housekeeping request was not honored. We asked for some extra towels and put in a request to clean the room the first night. When we came back in the night, the room was as it is, and never cleaned. Additionally, the ice machine doesn't work on several floors. 5. I purchased an $7 bottle of wine for $27 from the gift shop. While hotel rates are expensive (normally 2 or 2.5x the original price), four times the original price seems extra-ordinary. These were the worst three nights (July 3rd to July 6th) of my any hotel stay. Avoid staying at this place at any cost.

This is dangerous location, all homeless people around the hotel. We stayed in this hotel for 9 days and below review summaries our stay. This hotel left us thoroughly disappointed – it's aged, unclean, and permeated with a pervasive cigarette stench. Numerous rooms reek of smoke, and even the elevators aren't spared from the unpleasant odor. Basic amenities like bathroom tubs and doorknobs are broken, creating an uncomfortable stay. On our first day, we reported a smoking smell in the bathroom, only to be met with a ludicrous accusation that we might have tampered with the smoke detector. The staff's handling of the situation was both unprofessional and absurd. We were told that we can use executive launge room for snacks and drinks etc. But we tried going to that room 4 to 5 days straight and it doesn't work, front desk says sorry 😐. The staff's demeanor was equally subpar. During dinner at the hotel, our server seemed more engrossed in her phone than attending to our needs. Multiple attempts to get her attention were futile, highlighting a lack of responsiveness and customer service. However, amidst this disappointing experience, the saving grace was the commendable service provided by the ladies managing breakfast at Metro Cafe. They demonstrated genuine care for the guests, standing out in stark contrast to the overall disheartening state of the hotel.

DoubleTree? More like DoubleOops! Let me start with the good stuff: The location? Perfect – right in downtown Wilmington. Super walkable. The staff? Really nice and professional – no complaints there! Now… the rest. My closet was just a hollow space. No rods. No hangers. Not even a sad little hook. I guess my clothes were supposed to just vibe freely in the air? The window had an artistic touch – and by “artistic”, I mean someone threw a black bedsheet over it like it was college move-in day. Mood lighting, but make it accidental. The safe in the room? Broken. So unless you’re hiding Monopoly money, not much use. And the dresser? Missing a drawer. I didn’t know hotel room furniture could moonlight as abstract art. Look, I wanted to love this place. The cookies were warm, but my expectations? Lukewarm after that room tour. DoubleTree, you’ve got the bones of a good hotel here – but the room I stayed in felt like it was halfway through a breakup. Final verdict: Great people, great spot, but someone please fix that closet before it files a missing rod report. PS. They did find me a good room the next evening

While the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel in Wilmington, Delaware, may boast an illustrious brand name, several factors contribute to its less-than-stellar reputation. Firstly, dining experiences often serve as a focal point for guests, yet the food quality at this establishment is consistently disappointing. Whether it's lackluster breakfast offerings or subpar dinner options, guests frequently encounter meals that fail to meet even modest expectations.

Beyond culinary shortcomings, another glaring issue is the pervasive unpleasant odor that permeates the premises. A peculiar and off-putting scent can detract significantly from the overall experience, leaving guests feeling uncomfortable and dissatisfied. Such olfactory nuisances can stem from a variety of sources, ranging from inadequate ventilation to cleanliness deficiencies, casting a shadow over the hotel's ambiance.

Furthermore, guests often encounter challenges related to cleanliness and maintenance. Stains on carpets and upholstery, unkempt common areas, and malfunctioning amenities are among the common grievances reported by patrons. A lack of attention to detail in housekeeping and upkeep can create an impression of neglect and contribute to an overall sense of dissatisfaction among guests.

In addition to physical aspects, customer service plays a pivotal role in shaping the perception of a hotel. Unfortunately, the Hilton DoubleTree in Wilmington falls short in this regard, with numerous accounts of indifferent or unresponsive staff members. Whether it's addressing concerns promptly or providing personalized assistance, the level of service fails to align with the standards expected of a reputable hospitality establishment.

Moreover, issues related to noise pollution frequently plague guests' experiences at this hotel. Thin walls and inadequate soundproofing contribute to disturbances from neighboring rooms, corridors, and external sources. The inability to enjoy a restful night's sleep due to disruptive noises can exacerbate frustrations and detract from the overall quality of the stay.

Another aspect worth highlighting is the lack of attention to detail in room amenities and furnishings. Outdated decor, worn-out furnishings, and limited in-room amenities contribute to an underwhelming guest experience. From uncomfortable mattresses to malfunctioning electronic devices, guests may find themselves contending with a myriad of inconveniences during their stay.

Furthermore, the hotel's location may also be a point of contention for guests seeking convenient access to nearby attractions or amenities. Situated in an area that lacks charm or accessibility to key points of interest, the Hilton DoubleTree fails to offer the allure of a prime location, further diminishing its appeal among travelers.

In terms of value for money, many guests express dissatisfaction with the overall cost-to-quality ratio at this establishment. High room rates coupled with underwhelming amenities and services lead to a perception of poor value proposition, prompting guests to seek alternatives that offer better bang for their buck.

Lastly, the lack of proactive measures to address feedback and implement improvements further exacerbates the hotel's shortcomings. Repeat instances of the same issues indicate a systemic failure to address root causes and prioritize guest satisfaction, perpetuating a cycle of disappointment and disillusionment among patrons.

In conclusion, while the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel in Wilmington, Delaware, may boast the prestige of its brand name, a myriad of issues ranging from subpar dining experiences and pervasive odors to cleanliness deficiencies and lackluster customer service collectively contribute to its reputation as an unremarkable and unsatisfactory...

I’ve stayed in at least 50 different Hilton properties over the last handful of years and this single property ranks as the absolute worst of them all. So bad that I’m considering a switch from being a relatively loyal Hilton customer to instead going with Marriott my next few trips. I spent last night at this hotel and unfortunately I’m back again tonight. Last night was all-in-all “meh”. I arrived at about 8pm after a 12 hour workday and checked in. They did put me in the king room I booked and paid for and although the customer service was average, she did provide a much appreciated tip about parking. My wife went to get ice and the machine didn’t work so she had to go to the front desk where the front desk associate went and fetched it from their kitchen. This morning was a totally different story when I woke up and went to shower and to my surprise there was no hot water at all. We called the front desk and the guy there told us the entire hotel didn’t have hot water and there was no timeline for getting it fixed. Suffered through an ice cold shower and went to check out and he says there was nothing he could do to credit us because there wasn’t a manager present. NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Unfortunately my day didn’t quite go as planned so I had to stay in the area again tonight and this is the most conveniently located Hilton property to where I’m working. I called the hotel to ask if the hot water situation was fixed and they said yes so I booked another king room for tonight. Arrived here around 11:15 and couldn’t seem to get the Hilton app to work to get checked in to the room type I booked and paid for. The associate at the front desk was kind but unfortunately having issues with the computer to get us checked in. I said I was just there because the app wouldn’t let me select the room type I booked and they informed me it’s because they don’t have any of that room type available (so why even let me book it Hilton?). It’s late and my wife and I are tired so we just said the heck with it and checked in using the app and selecting the lesser grade room type that was all that was available. We went and parked our car in the attached garage and then proceeded to try and enter the hotel where we couldn’t because the Hilton app wasn’t working for the digital key feature. We used the phone and called the front desk and they buzzed us in. This part is likely important to detail for what we encountered next…we entered and then tried to use the elevator up to the lobby from the parking garage and to our surprise when the elevator door opened there was someone completely passed out inside that was clearly under the influence of something. Needless to say we opted to use the stairs. Fortunately we were able to get a working room key from the front desk to get to our room. While waiting I had made a comment that for all the nights I’ve stayed at Hilton properties, this one is by far the worst ever that I’ve stayed at. Their response…”I wish I could say otherwise but you’re probably right”. We took the key and were in our queen room for the night that we didn’t book. Hopefully I can get a hot shower in the morning. We weren’t offered the “signature” chocolate chip cookie or bottles of water during check-in either one of the last couple of nights here either…

I’d strongly recommend finding another hotel that isn’t this one if you’re...

I went to this particular Doubletree by Hilton for New Year's Eve. It was festively decorated and upon entering the lobby the visitor is immediately wrapped up in the holiday spirit! The staff behind the check in desk were festively adorned with New Year's finery (hats, tiaras, leis) and not only do they give out the best welcome bags with homemade chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth but they supply guests with bottled water as well. Being New Year's Eve the staff had a plethora of sparkly hats and tiaras to hand out to guests as well. The women who were working the desk were friendly and helpful and just plain fun as I tried on hats! The bellhop noticed me sitting on a chair waiting for my husband to park our car and immediately offered me assistance with our two small bags. I thanked him but said it was no problem. The lobby floors despite the amount of traffic they received were sparkling. Since this hotel is located fairly close to the Wilmington Riverfront in the heart of the city of Wilmington, DE be prepared to park your own car in the hotel's underground parking garage then you can take the elevator in the parking garage directly up into the hotel's lobby and check-in. Our room on the third floor was very clean, the beds didn't have bedbugs, I slept peacefully on the soft pillows and mattress (and I am not a good sleeper! ) The room contained a small refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, closet, chair for lounging and ottoman, desk and chair, small end table between beds with chargers for phones, iPads, Kindles, etc. The bathroom extra products for soap, shampoo, etc. were all Crabtree & Evelyn products. The tub, sink, toilet and bathroom floor were all white and clean. The carpet in our room was exceptionally clean. The photos of nature hung around the room were pleasant and calming to the eyes. We ate in the bar area before going out. I had quesadillas and the bartender made me a Shirley Temple lol. The food came out quick and hot and tasted delicious. The bartender was pleasant, attentive, and since we sat at the bar, managed to keep us entertained. The bar area of the hotel had New Year's table decorations with hats for guests in nicely created centerpieces. Families with little children to single folk were gathered. All the TVs each had a different NY Eve Times Square footage showing so guests could watch the ball drop all over the world. The lounge area was outfitted with comfy leather chairs I loved. At the front of the lounge area was a blackboard with the breakfast times for the week M-F 6-10 A.M & S-Sun 7-11A.M. I thought this idea was extremely helpful. Checkout was at 12. Checkin- you can call the hotel and do your checkin online prior to your arrival so you don't have to worry about waiting in lines to swipe a credit card and at that time you can alert the hotel to your estimated time of arrival. I think that is a great idea! Overall my experience at the Doubletree by Hilton in Wilmington,DE on a hectic night was excellent! I would recommend this specific Doubletree by Hilton as a place to stay should you find yourself in Wilmington. Great service, clean,...
