An Unfortunate Experience at Tandoori Bites: Mediocre Food and Abysmal Service
I recently had the misfortune of dining at Tandoori Bites, an Indian restaurant that left much to be desired. My expectations were high, given my experiences living in India and traveling the world, but what I encountered was nothing short of disappointing. From the lackluster food to the appalling customer service, Tandoori Bites failed to live up to its name.
Let's start with the food. The dishes served at Tandoori Bites were nothing more than mediocre. The flavors lacked the authenticity and depth that one would expect from an Indian restaurant. It seemed as if the chefs had taken shortcuts in their preparation, resulting in bland and unimpressive meals. Having experienced the vibrant and rich flavors of Indian cuisine elsewhere, I couldn't help but feel let down by the lackluster offerings at Tandoori Bites.
However, it wasn't just the food that tarnished my experience; it was the abysmal customer service that truly left a bitter taste in my mouth. Upon arriving at the restaurant, my mother and I requested a table by the window, as there were two vacant tables available. To our astonishment, the water refused to accommodate our simple request, citing that they were reserved for "big parties." Strangely enough, those tables remained empty throughout our entire meal, while we were made to feel unwelcome.
As if that wasn't enough, towards the end of our meal, just as we were savoring a bite of dessert, a waiter approached our table in an aggressive manner and abruptly informed us that we needed to leave because there were two other couples waiting for a table. The sheer audacity of this demand left us flabbergasted and appalled. It was evident that Tandoori Bites prioritized their profit over basic courtesy and customer satisfaction.
Sadly, it seems that Tandoori Bites has lost sight of the importance of genuine customer service. They appeared more interested in churning out quick turnovers than creating an enjoyable dining experience. It's disheartening to witness such a disregard for customer satisfaction, especially when restaurants should be focusing on rebuilding their reputation after the pandemic.
In conclusion, Tandoori Bites fell far short of its potential. The lackluster food and the disrespectful treatment we received during our visit left me deeply disappointed. As someone with a genuine appreciation for Indian cuisine, I had hoped for an authentic and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, Tandoori Bites failed to deliver, and it is a shame that they have let customer service become a forgotten art in their pursuit of profits. I would not recommend Tandoori Bites to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience, as there are far better options available in the...
Read moreIt honestly pains me to give this place such a poor review as the first time we ordered, our food was delicious. I was so excited to start coming here weekly. However, this past time we ordered was a nightmare, and it was unlike anything I've ever experienced. I get that times are tough and stressful for everyone, but I've never had a manager speak to me with such disgust for no reason as I did in this place.
We ordered a large amount of food for our family of 2 as we were having a splurge night after receiving some bad news. So we ordered appetizers, entres, desserts, etc. We had issues with all but one of our dishes. First, the pictures on their online menu are completely different from the food they actually serve. You can see this by what their $8 "Veggie platter" pictures having and what we received. Same thing with the "assorted pappadums," "cheese pakora," "malai kofta," rice pudding, and more! We were also told to come in 35 minutes to get our food. I arrived 35 minutes on the dot and by the time I drove home (3 minute drive) all my food was cold. The cheese pakora wasn't even crunchy, it was actually wet and soggy. We even got a platter of soggy fried onions instead of "onion bhajia."
I NEVER call to complain, but since 5 - 6 of our 7 items were either wrong, made incorrectly, or were soggy and cold, I thought I had to call. I unfortunately spoke to an extremely rude manager who told me that I was lying to her and the menu items pictured were correct. I explained I can show her pictures of the website, and she continued to tell me I was lying. I then explained I'm not trying to get money back or anything, I just wanted to help them see a mistake in their online menu. I also told her I didn't appreciate being accused of lying. She responded admitting she had never seen the online menu (even though she is the manager), but that even if the menu is wrong, its still my fault for not asking what the menu item was before ordering it. Specifically she said, "Maybe you should be like most people and ask about the food before you giver us all your money" At this point I was jaw-dropped. I had just spent almost $90 for awful food, and when I tried to kindly explain the problem, I was called a liar and told that I don't know how to order food correctly. Then, she basically taunted me saying I wouldn't get any apology, refund, or anything and hung up on me.
So see for yourself the "food" I was served. Don't worry, Tandoori Bites, I will make sure everyone knows about your terribly inconsistent food quality, but more importantly, about your terrible...

I am not sure how this place got so many stars and good rating. This place is cheating people.
Wait time: Even though there were no customers, still they kept us waiting for 10 to 15 minutes at the front door.
Bathroom: Pathetic and smelly.
Drinks: No availability just show off.
Water: Salty and smelly
Service: OMG, they didn’t even knew there menu properly, rude behavior.
Seating\Bench: The chair leges were moving and can any time come apart
Cost: Expensive
We ignored everything as we’re waiting for the food and everyone was hungry. The first thing served was uncooked papad (attache pictures) which no one ate, then butter naan and curry was served (attached pictures), butter naan without any butter like a rubber, chili chicken was served which was just smelly and tasted like full of turmeric without chili, chicken tikka was good but still not authentic.
We conveyed the above issues to the waiter and the manager, in response they keep saying that this is our own recipe which includes uncooked papad, full of turmeric in chili chicken, butter naan without butter and others.
Guys, please post a review if you had the same experience. This review is not to stop anyone to visit this restaurant, you are most welcome to visit if you want to try some non authentic Indian food. Please post your experience to help other food loving hungry people at such an amazing place like Carolina beach.
Good luck...
