Mellow Mushroom Wilmington — Restaurant in Wilmington

I don’t typically leave reviews but to be honest my mind is completely floored at what happened tonight. We are regular customers even during covid to this location. We’ve had the food and it’s great but if your waitress isn’t putting in orders and bringing them out!?!? We got there right at 7:15. We were told about a 10 minute wait. No issues. We were sitting within 15. I know this because I looked back at my text from them saying the table was ready. Our waitress came quickly. Took our drink order and appetizer. It took at least 20 minutes to get, by someone other than our waitress. We never saw her again. Not even walking around checking on her other tables. Never.saw.her.again! My son and daughter started to complain. I told them to just be patient. This went on for awhile until finally I checked the text and realized it had been an hour. Now 8:30. I finally got up, went to the front and asked for our check to pay for our drinks and appetizer. She asked who our waitress was I said I don’t know. She put my tab of 45$ in front of me. I told her please adjust as I’m not paying for the food I never received. And hour and 15 minutes for only app and 3 drinks. Our waitress finally made it over to where I was. And stated “I don’t know why none of my tables aren’t getting their food?” Hmmmmmm better training needed I’m assuming!? I’m baffled at what took place. I’ve never eaten anywhere before where my waitress was no where to be seen for over an hour. Only getting apps and drinks. I’m super patient but I don’t see us going for awhile. Food was 5 Star!!! Delish!! Service was probably the worst I’ve ever had. My father was a restaurant manager his entire career, I’ve been a waitress and I’m friends with many waitresses. The girl working Nov 2 at around 2pm was awful. She was told four people as one went to the bathroom, she seated my friends at a dirty table. We had to ask for the table to be cleaned and for an extra setting... she seemed annoyed by this request which was made in a friendly manner. I’m not sure if it upset her, but, the service got worse. It took nearly 2 hrs to get our food and we ordered our food when she finally came for our drink order. My friend ordered a ginger ale and got seltzer, I ordered half cut tea and got full on tea. All excusable if other service was good....but, it was not. I don’t know if she’s new, but, the place wasn’t busy at all and others who arrived after us were served food before us. She was polite but seemed frazzled. Maybe something else was going on but, I took notice that she spent a lot of time no where to be seen. I just think she needs to be trained better. But, as I said the food was amazing ... I will go back and five it another chance due to the food. I don’t write this to offend but to give the owners a heads up about what’s going on so they can fix it. It seemed to me no one was happy with...

I normally do not write reviews for restaurants but I felt that I needed to share our experience this evening due to such a poor experience with both service and food quality. If I were the owner of the restaurant I would want this feedback and would hope this helps improve future experiences as we have always loved mellow mushroom and want to see them succeed. First off the service was awful. Our server was very short and would walk away before we could even ask clarifying questions to our order. She then proceeded to go hang out with her friends at the bar and with the manager in the kitchen, who appeared to be drinking in the kitchen in where customers could clearly see him drinking. Even if he wasn't drinking, it still was not a good look from a customer perspective. And then, for the food quality. We ordered a pizza and a calzone, both were undercooked, the dough was still very doughy and chewy and our waitress was not even around to share our feedback so we ended up just eating it. Finally, when we were asking for the check and box, she cleared our whole table and literally pulled my half drank beer out of my hands and walked off. If you are expecting the typical high quality mellow mushroom experience I highly recommend you do not dine here until these issues...
