Kirkwood Diner Restaurant — Restaurant in Delaware

Food was horrible and very expensive compared to other local diners with much better food. Service was horrible. Atmosphere was horrible. I went here because my usual breakfast spot was super busy and I was on a time crunch. I've been once a while ago when they first opened and was very dissatisfied but figured I’d give them another chance. Thought I got lucky when I reverted to this place and it was practically empty. After my experience here, I can see why this place is empty on a Sunday afternoon. The place has gone even further down hill from my last visit! I would wait 3 hours somewhere else before I ever eat here again! I usually don’t bother to review unless the place was really awesome, or really bad. I wish I could give this place negative stars. The waitress looked me dead in my face and told me eggs fried medium wasn’t a thing, the eggs I got my 8 year old has cooked to better quality. The sausage I would gamble was precooked microwaved frozen sausages from the grocery store. They dumped a gallon of cinnamon and confectionery sugar all over my undercooked over buttered French toast. I’m writing this praying I don’t end up with food...

We stopped in at 5 pm. There were 3 tables with 2 people at each and one waitress. We were a party of 4, so we're not talking doing a bustling business for a Saturday night. We sat for quite some time before the waitress came over. She took our drink orders and then, after about 10 minutes, came back and took our dinner orders. 3 sandwiches and a popcorn shrimp basket with a salad and a baked potato. The food took over a half hour to come out, and was disgusting! Half of the lettuce in the salad had turned to slime. The sour cream for the tiniest, driest baked potato was rotten. The cocktail sauce for the shrimp had gone bad. I didn't even know that could go bad! The burger was well done instead of medium, and when we said something, the waitress said, "Oh well." The corned beef sandwich was beyond dry, and the patty melt was just a pile of grease. Literally, not one thing was good. Nothing. The waitress then disappeared and didn't show back up until it was time to leave the check. I would not only not return, but actively warn people not to go. I'm honestly worried that we're going...

I am very impressed with the service, the food is great and the staff is professional. I like the people they employ. They are courteous, respectful, and they are good company when you are talking to them. I have nothing but praise from them b/c they deserve it. I hope they are in business for as long as they care to be! This diner should be used as a blueprint for others! Great job guys! I am adding this after having dinner there this evening Wednesday February 5, 2025. My favorate waitress served me as she usially does when I eat there. I am a loyal customer because of her and the food. I have never been treated as respectful as she treates me. I appreciate her tremendously.
