Truly disappointed by this experience. To say that the server was inattentive would be an understatement. The other server was constantly covering for him, keeping the water in our glasses at acceptable levels and making sure we had what we needed. We basically saw him when he took our order, when he brought out the food, and when he gave us the check.
The food was lackluster. We ordered fried mushrooms as an appetizer. There was no discernable seasoning to the mushrooms. They were basically tempura balls filled with mushroom and the remaining water that had gotten locked up inside in the frying process. I actually scalded my lip on the water from the first one I bit into.
I ordered the Spaghetti Toseanello, which is described on the menu as "Italian sausage and hot peppers served in a rich, creamy sauce." Incredibly misleading, since "hot peppers" basically meant the same pepper flakes that I could have sprinkled at the table (see picture). The sausage was...interesting. I wouldn't have classified it as "Italian," exactly. Texturally, it bore a closer resemblance to breakfast sausage. And the cream sauce had nothing to commend it. My wife commented that it basically looked like and tasted like warmed-up heavy cream. Like the mushrooms, it suffered from a general lack of seasoning. I had to apply liberal amounts of salt and pepper to get the taste to something I was interested in eating. And to think that they charge $3+ for this above spaghetti with meat sauce, which according to the menu comes with choice of meat balls or sausage. When I pointed out the discrepancy between the description and the dish in front of me, I was offered a side of jalapeños, but let's face it, a side of jalapeños isn't going to taste the same as peppers cooked in the dish. Not to mention that I would have expected an Italian restaurant priding itself on authenticity to prefer peperoncino or another Italian pepper to jalapeño.
Moving on to my wife's dish, the spinach calzone. Again, no great seasoning, and her initial reaction when she started to look inside was that the spinach was probably frozen (which, in retrospect, is my impression of the mushrooms already mentioned).
And then, insult to injury, some of the amounts on the bill were incorrect. I think the mushrooms were priced about $0.75 above the menu, while my spaghetti was another $.50 above menu. By that point, I didn't feel like trying to deal with that issue, so we just paid the bill and got out of there. No repeat visits planned for the...
Read moreDecided to give this place a try. Got the chicken parm and it came with 2 chicken portions so I split it with my husband. One plate was a lot of food. It was also very good with lots of cheese. That’s where the good kinda ends.
Garlic knots, though delicious, nearly $9. For bread. My main came with bread but it wasn’t on there. Eh that’s whatever. I wasn’t given a knife to cut the chicken. Getting my server to come over was impossible so I just shoveled the chicken breast in my mouth. No way a fork was cutting through it.
Later I remember seeing cheesecake on the menu. Didn’t catch the price right away. Tracked my server down for a slice. She only asked “Oreo or regular?” I ordered regular. Bill came it was $11. That’s Cheesecake Factory prices. On the menu it said $7. I asked about it and she said I got the one “made in house.” I mean you’re a restaurant. It wouldn’t surprise me if you made food. But also I wasn’t given the option for the other cheesecake. Just that one. She could have asked me which one I wanted.
Then like another review said, and this is the one that gets me. They charge for water. Not like a to go water. Like just a glass of water with ice. I’ve never been charged for water here in the US. Other countries sure but they bring you a bottle. This was just tap water.
I’m glad I gave the place a try but I won’t go back just on...
Read moreFirst off the food was really really great so I want to be clear about that. I called my order in and when I arrived I still had to wait about 20 minutes to receive it. When I did get it and finally got home I noticed that I was missing an order. I called the store and the Man in the store wrote my name down and told me that I could come up and pick them up whenever I need it to. I did wait about 2 weeks later and called back when a woman who answered the phone told me there was no record of my name and basically said I couldn't get my food. Add a meant to still get it and hoping that the man would answer the phone, I called again today only to be told pretty much the same thing even though I described the gentleman and explain to the lady that I spent a lot of money on my order and simply just wanted my left out item. She was argumentative with me and I just decided to hang up. She did call back after speaking with her manager and offered for me to come and get the food but at that point I was so offended that I told her I'd never come back again. The bottom line is every customer counts and people should not be dismissed for whatever reason. The situation really just could have been handled much more professionally...
