I wish I could give a 3.5 star but it's not an option. The inside of the restaurant is small, quaint, cute, and able to be at max capacity for inside eaters; as all the tables and chairs are spaced for social distancing.
The lady at the til was friendly and helpful with all our questions we had about their sushi menu. The gentleman with her was very focused and diligent to get the meals prepared as we ordered.
We ordered several meals to try to get a decent interpretation of what their flavor profiles are. To judge it as a whole, the food was par for a typical Asian/Chinese restaurant. It wasn't strong bold flavors in everything. But, I will say there is a lot of freshness in their product and very little grease to any of the fried foods.
Three things stood out that we did enjoy alot. The first, the Beef and Broccoli. The broccoli was fresh, the meat was tender, but the sauce had very gravy quality and taste. It was different but it reminded me of pot roast gravy. Very savoury.
Second, the Orange Chicken. Had real oranges sliced and cooked with it, peels as well, to really boost that flavor profile and give it some nice aromatics. The sauce was more like an orange glaze with fresh chili's to enhance it and give it a kick.
Third, the egg rolls. These are fresh. Inside and out, it is fresh flavors that really feel more like a meal than an appetizer. The wonton wrap or whatever they are using, is thin and homemade. It crisps up very nicely.
A little note I will add here includes the fried dumplings, as well as, the egg rolls. I believe both are made similar. Where it's handmade wraps and filling, but I do believe the filling is premade and then frozen. Scooping out as they make their product. It's a good thing but sometimes when it's too frozen, there's a water flavor that sticks with it after it's been fried.
Otherwise, I say go for it, try it, and see if you like it. Reply back with your thoughts, cause I'd love to...
Read moreWent to eat inside. Restaurant was clean, which is very important to me. Food came out quickly and hot dishes were steaming hot, which is also important. Ordered the shrimp tempura roll, California roll, sweet and sour chicken and Hunan beef. Daughter liked the sweet and sour chicken but probably would try something else next time. The Hunan beef was very tasty and we would definitely order again. Hubby thought it could have been spicier but I thought it was perfect. The California roll was good. Definitely better than Martins (see other reviewer). The shrimp tempura roll was good though I would have liked more eel sauce and definitely some spicy mayo on the side. The selection of rolls is small but overall the menu had a good mix of what you’d expect at a counter service Asian food place. The price was good and we will definitely be going back. The only true drawback was they only played one song the entire 30 minutes we were there and it got old after the first time through. Since it’s on the way home from work, will definitely try takeout when we get the hankering...
Read moreI was looking for some good American Chinese food and some folks spoke highly of this place. I, personally, was not impressed. Did an online order and my daughter picked it up. She said the service and atmosphere were average, nothing stood out. So, three stars each for being average. I ordered the Family Style Bean Curd and it was the most bland "Chinese" meal I have ever eaten. The veggies had no flavor. And when I say none, I mean absolute none. Thank goodness I made my own basmati rice, to go with it. While it wasn't horrible, I won't be back. I am going to order a book and spices now, because I have realized, that if I want a good meal, I will have to make it myself. Bummer, because I do love a good...
