One of many many Thai restaurants in Las Vegas..
Located in a "run down" part of the downtown Vegas area... Ironically, there are 3 Thai restasurants in the same plaza. This one, right next to another one...
I selected this restaurant, hoping to enjoy the seafood.
To start, the table we were seated at wasn't properly wiped down.
Needed a thorough scrubbing...
We notified a waitress and she started wiping it down... The issue was "grease" stains and "sticky spots" that would not come off...
She tried and tried and starting murmuring to herself.. She was obviously frustrated.
She told us that all the tables needed to be replaced.
I suggested we move tables, but.. all the tables had pretty much the same issue.
She suggested that it was my fault for selecting this table... I immediately called her out on that absurd statement, and she remained silent.
I suggested that she bring some paper table covers, but she said she didn't have any....
O'well.... I got some napkins and covered the table.
We ordered 3 seafood dishes, the lobster, fish and jumbo shrimp.
When the food came out.. we were all surprised at the portions.
Usually, Asian and Thai restaurants give pretty good portions... this place, I guess it was French.
The picture in the menu of the Giant Prawns.. looked like there was at least 4 to 6 pieces in the dish... we only got two. We notified the waitress about this.. and she said, the picture was accurate and that it was just an "illusion".
The steamed fish...what can I say...for $22 you expect a decent size dish... but we got just enough for a small child...
Overall... not a "filling" meal.
The bill came out to about $85 before tip for 3 small seafood dishes at a Thai restaurant located in a run down plaza...
The food wasn't bad, but not worth $85.
I left a 5% tip because overall, not a good experience.
We left the restaurant..and as I was about to get into my car, my waitress opens the restaurant door and gives me a scowling "look".
Servers these days.....
Read more[Disclaimer- PAY WITH CASH!] Food is the best thai that i've found in vegas. It's sort of far from me, but still make it over every month or so. Usually just get take out.
Seriously, though, be prepared to pay with cash.
The last two times we went, we paid with a debit card and we had an issue on BOTH occasions- time before last my husband made an offhanded comment about the charge on his card being higher amount than he'd expected.. I wrote it off, assuring him it was likely "just a mistake"- figuring maybe his handwriting had been illegible on the tip/total, or maybe his math had been incorrect. .. A one time thing; not something worth getting worried about. Whatever. BUT, then again, this very last time i went, i used my debit card to pay, but tipped in cash (we both work in restaurants and tend to leave disproportionately large tips.) On this to-go in question, i left a 45-50% tip IN CASH, and wrote "cash" on the tip line, and made sure to fill in the total amount with extra accuracy & precision... so as to make sure it was clearly, unmistakably read-able. (Then, i didnt think about it at all for a few weeks.) Then, however,... When i was looking through my recent bank statement, i noticed that my last charge for komol was about $15 higher than the total for which i'd signed&committed to pay. :( Not enough of a discrepancy to dispute it, or cause a fuss, or complain, (especially when i've certainly lost track of my receipt) but i did figure it'd be NICE to offer a heads-up to their other potential patrons. Especially since it's happened TWICE now. :/
THE FOOD TRULY IS AMAZING! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone that appreciates good, authentic Thai food, and also [especially] to any vegetarians, because their selection of vegetarian-friendly options is inspiring! It's well-worth it. We will certainly continue to return semi-regularly... just from now on we will always ONLY pay with cash, Every time, and i recommend others be prepared to...

I was meant by a wonderful young Asian manager server named Hugo . He’s the best! I really enjoyed this place because its atmosphere is quiet like the word restaurant suggests. I hadn’t been here for a while, but I had a great tasting Tom Kah lemon grass, shrimp soup and some fabulous fresh spring rolls wrapped in a bean opaque curd. They just melt it in your mouth, noodles, lettuce, and all. I’m really looking forward to get back to this place for some peace, quiet and wonderful food selection they have.
God bless you all love your Thai food.

The 5 Chefs that worked their magic again here have outstanding skillsets when it comes to this longtime community Thai anchor restaurant. The customer service here is excellent and well managed from the time you enter til exit. Amazingly tasty food and Chef creativity are the key to Komodo continued success.
komol is located centrally inside the newly polished parking area of this 50 year Old Historic Commercial at 953 East Sahara Ave. Thanks to Ron McMenamy & family as well as the business owners tenaciously remaining here thru this trying last year we still have some great restaurant contenders here in Vegas with great...
