On Thursday May 2, 2024, at approximately 4:15ish, I went to La Vencindad Cantina (Cantina). Once there, I ordered a chicken enchilada dinner (which comes with two enchiladas, beans and rice. I also ordered two carne asada tacos.
When I went to the Cantina, I was on a handicap scooter with a dog in my lap, as well as a dog in a carrier in the basket of my scooter. Also, my scooter was almost out of electric charge and the gentleman who waited on me was kind enough to plug my scooter into a wall outlet located on a small dance floor.
The amount charged for my food was $36, which I paid in cash. I gave the waiter a $5 tip.
Once I arrived home and started to eat my dinner, the chicken in the enchiladas was hard, dry, and stringy. The beans, as a side dish, was 85% liquid (barely no beans). I didn't eat any of the beans and rice and only took a bite off one of the enchiladas. I figured I would return my order the next day.
On Friday, May 3, 2024 (the next day) I returned the food to the Cantina. I met with a woman who introduced herself as the owner. She came out of the back of the restaurant and told me she had reviewed the video surveillance and had seen me from the day before. Her mannerism was very abrasive and off putting. She wanted to know why I had not returned the food the evening before. I'm handicap, she saw me on the scooter, saw the dogs; it's not easy for me to get around. She was acting like I was a thief, when in fact, she had seen me pay for my food. The Owner kept repeating over and over again that they don't normally (I guess) re-make food.
She asked me for my receipt. I WAS NEVER GIVEN a receipt. She said, "oh well!" So she didn't remake my food. Basically dismissed me.
Let's review: She saw me on video surveillance purchase the food. The video would have a time stamp which would match the POS receipt that the Cantina has. Plus, I returned the uneaten meal to her.
If the Cantina does not want non-Mexican customers, they should post a sign outside. Initially, I simply wanted them to remake my food. I would NEVER eat that nasty food again!!! The owner needs an...
Read moreWe went late Saturday night. Unfortunately I didn't have my Id on me and wasn't aware it was needed to go in to eat. The security was kinda rude, immediately tapping my husband down and then it was my turn so we had to leave to go pick up my ID. Came back and initially wanted to eat dinner only. There's a limited menu. I wanted traditional Mexican tacos and the menu only offered hard shelled tacos. We got the asada fries & el chavo torta instead and for drinks, a cantarito & a michelada. The place is so cool! The decor the lights and it's clean. The Chavo torta was OK, simple, nothing special. The asada fries were OK, I had a lot of leftovers so when we got home, an hour after packing it up, my son opened up the box & there's was a bad smell so we decided to throw it away. The cantarito was not good, so disappointed because I was really looking forward to it. It tasted more like a flavored soda, very sweet and rarely any alcohol content. The michelada was very good. Now the atmosphere was good, DJ playing a mix of music and all. The young waiter who assisted us was very kind and attentive but then we started getting too often a lady coming right after him asking "todo bien" & got super annoying. We felt like we were being rushed quite frankly. We would go back, would want to sit and listen to music and maybe try out other drinks and the daytime menu if there's another one because based on reviews we definitely didn't have the same menu. Again it was late at night, seemed more like snacks...
