I’ve been here a few times and my experience has always been great. However today was not okay. I understood it was a busy Sunday, Father’s Day and all, I came in and asked for a table for 7. My party was about 15 min late but they had a wait, no problem. They sat me and I explained that my party was still late but they were coming, they still let me keep the table. 15 min later a red headed waitress rudely explained to me that I had “exactly 3 min for them to get here or I needed to get up since your party isn’t here, we need the tables”. She condescended to me and when I explained they were just about to pull in she sat the table anyways. My party walked in 1 min later and they now had no table for us. I was asked again, how many people were in my party and I said 7. She then said “well where are they??”, 3 of them were standing with me and they other 3 were standing in the foyer. My aunt was upset with the way she was speaking with us and asked her to lose the attitude. To which she responded that she gave no attitude and that I need to act my age. We left after that since clearly she wanted a fight and we would be waiting a long time for another table. I’ve worked in the service industry for 10 years and could not believe that interaction, I would never treat anyone that way. So...
Read moreHad an amazing lunch with my wife at the Gap Diner in Wind Gap, PA. It's an awesome spot, hidden right out in the open, and I don't know why we didn't stop sooner.
Our server was Kim, incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about the food, and she had a whole lot of enthusiasm for the restaurant. My wife and I later talked about how much it says about a business and the management when employees are so genuinely happy about their job. She gave us a couple recommendations, we tried each, and Kim didn't steer us wrong. Food was outstanding!
I had the meatloaf with French fries and carrots, which also came with a cup of homemade soup. I opted for chili (also homemade). My wife got a breakfast meal that was kind of a little of everything to try. Turned out nearly everything is made homemade in the kitchen, not frozen and trucked in like so many other places, and all the meats/seafood/produce is fresh.
From the old-school atmosphere of a family restaurant to the friendly service to the outstanding food, I highly recommend...
Read moreAnother year gone, another visit to the Gap diner in Wind Gap, PA. The place is close so, we decided to stop by and try the extensive soup choices and weekly specials. Hungarian Egg noodles topped with meat balls, side salad and dessert $14.95. Looked good enough and hubs liked it. 😋 I opted for the liver with fresh sautéed onions, side salad, Turkey orzo soup and Cole slaw: $12.95. Look at photos. It was cooked medium, huge portion and all lightly seasoned. The highlight was DIANE, our ROCKSTAR waitress, who calmly articulated what we wanted, dotting her i’s and crossing the t’s. She made sure to repeat back what we ordered and specifically the temps, sides, etc. Rare service these days. 🎯 (She just waited on a table that separated, twisted and divided their food between three checks and then voiced their dismay as if she was the fault!) 🤷♂️ Great service, hot servings and all around nice dining experience. 🍋 Check the Facebook for daily specials. ☀️ When the temps get hot, get out of...
