I don’t normally write reviews, because I’m pretty picky about where I eat, but when i saw how many great reviews there were, I figured this place couldn’t be bad. The reviews were spot on.
As a native New Yorker, used to great Chinese food, but having lived in Arizona for over 20 years where we don’t have great Chinese food, I was bowled over by how good this place was.
To start with, I way over ordered because I wanted to try a few items. here was my order… fried dumplings, Egg Rolls, Subgum Wonton soup, boneless spare ribs, and a combo dish, can’t recall it’s name but it was shrimp and vegetables on one side, and orange chicken on the other side.
The restaurant itself is a dump… it’s a dive, very uninviting. It looks as if before the pandemic people ate there, but now, there’s maybe 2 tables on one side, and one table on the other side of the building.
The employees are all behind a plexiglass barrier and you have to order through a speaker… here’s a tip, order ahead. I had to wait 20 minutes, but it was worth it. As i sat there and watched customer after customer come in, i realized i should have called ahead, oh well.
My food was ready, and it was packed so well. Cardboard divider between my soup, the spare ribs were packed well with a plastic bag around it to prevent spilling.
Well, let’s start with the start of the show… the egg rolls. They were big, crunchy, and tasty. I have not had an egg roll like that since i lived in New York.
The dumplings, wow…meaty and tasty, with the sauce on the side. The crab Rangoon were good, the spare ribs, very tasty deep red but no bones, can’t complain about it.
About the only complaint, if there was one, was the shrimp in the subgum wonton were on the smaller size, and typically when I’ve had war wonton/subgum wonton, they use larger shrimp, but the taste was fantastic.
We’ve been in the lakes area since June, and only found this place yesterday. We’re heading home Tuesday so the only bad thing is that we may not be able to try again before we head home. I think if you love Chinese food, and looking for a good place to go, if you judge by my experience you cannot go wrong trying...
Read moreI ordered the mu-shu chicken, it was nothing like what I've gotten from other Chinese restaurants, almost all bean sprouts (for filler) not even sure if it even had any mushrooms, had no flavor at all really and definitely not enough chicken. The pancakes (tortillas)were all stuck together, really dry and falling apart so I couldn't even use one to make a wrap with. Also I recieved no plum sauce for them either. The dishes were rather pricey (approximately a dollar or two higher than many of the higher quality Chinese food restaurants I've visited and worked for) for the low quality of food we recieved. That was just my meal; don't even get me started about the other meals we had ordered ( Lol!) P.S. don't get the sweet and sour chicken either, though chicken meat wrapped in soggy dough and tasteless sweet and sour sauce. (Which is really not that hard to make!) I could just go on and on about everything we had ordered but I think you get the point. There is a much better Chinese food restaurant just a few miles from this one. I recommend that you go...

I used to only get my Chinese food from China Village in Gray Maine. Recently they upped their prices and their food quality came down pretty significantly. China Taste, despite the silly name, is very reminiscent of what China Village used to be.
I ordered a pu pu platter for 2 and they gave me an ENORMOUS amount of food. It was just phenomenal. All the food was fried to perfection and their crab Rangoon was one of the best I have tasted. The pork spare ribs left a lot to be desired. For some reason they don’t taste quite right and I was not sure exactly why that was. They seemed to have a bit of a bitter aftertaste that I had never experienced before. They could certainly do with exploring some other Chinese restaurants and tasting their spare ribs to dial in that recipe and make it better. Other than that…. Phenomenal restaurant that I would...
