UPDATE; tried the same foods, different crew with me. The food was much better. The pizza crust had crunch and chew, making it more like that NY pizza i adore. More toppings than last time as well, and the meatballs were fresh and moist! Doubled my stars since last visit. Good job.
Ok, saw wonderful reviews from the other locations. Just returning from my stint in New York, I craved a NY slice. Nope, not worthy of the style. Stood at the front register for about 10 minutes, about to leave and someone says, be right with you. Nice lady, very friendly. Majority of specialty pizzas are of the faded Fad of no red sauce... it happens. Had Margherita and the pineapple chorizo. Added meatballs for a shared appetizer. Meatballs were dry and Abita over cooked. The sauce tastes fresh and over seasoned. The pizza had very little toppings and no big flavor. Definitely better than Anthony's, and cooked better, but lacking flavor. I really hoped and prayed for more "wow", but got more flavor out of the slices from Kum&go the day before... as with any new spot in town, you all know I give them a second chance a month or so later. Let's be understanding of course. If they can knock my socks off and make me not crave Crazy Carl's on my next visit, then it will be a welcomed new hangout. As always, I hope to change my review, but it will be up to Shopey's to change that first...
Read moreDecided to try this new pizza place in Windsor after disappointing experience with Anthony’s that used to occupy this space. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, but I think we might have been dealing with a new trainee. Ordered our pizza and it was prepared in a very timely manner. However, when we got home it was not what we had ordered. I called immediately and the young lady answering the phone seemed a little confused as how to handle the situation. I heard her asking the manager what to do and eventually they said that they would remake the pizza, which was fine except that meant that I had to drive all the way back to pick up my correct order. The manager was very apologetic and let me know that my order had been put in improperly and that she double checked this one herself. Now, the pizza itself was very good. Crust was thin and still chewy. Very tasty and very “New York “. I liked that the sausage was crumbled (we got the 3 meat trio) but I would have liked to have been able to taste or see the meatballs that were supposed to be on the pizza. It’s my understanding that the sausage and meatballs are made by Shopey’s but we couldn’t really tell because it is all crumbled together very finely. Overall first experience was ok and will probably try again. It is a pretty expensive pizza but it is fresh and...
Read moreWhile visiting family in Windsor we felt the urge for pizza on a Friday night. Never being in this area, I wasn't sure where to go. I ordered for pickup. Large pizza with ham and sausage. When I arrived they got my pizza for me and opened the box. My eyes must have looked like saucers. The size of their "Large" pizza shocked me. You see, I hand tossed pizzas for 4 years in high school, so I know pizza. And, I'm quite particular about my "za." The pizza they served me was a medium sized pie from where I come from all day. Definitely, not a Large. Then, my next issue was the amount of toppings. There was barely any sauce, minimal cheese, about 8-10 small diced pieces of ham. Looking hard for a minute or so I was able to find several small chunks of sausage. Now, the pizza tasted ok. But could have tasted so much better with more of what makes a piece of bread, a "pizza." Staff was nice and friendly. Overall, I was quite disappointed. I most likely would not return and can't recommend this establishment based on my above...
