I've been to Port Winona Wine + Market a few times since moving back to Winona Lake from Colorado.
Last night, I was invited out by a group of local friends to hang out on Port's porch and I had a great time. I'm currently abstaining from alcohol, and Port's offerings easily accommodate. I tried three options a non-alcoholic IPA at the recommendation of someone within our party. *Keep in mind, all products mentioned still have trace amounts of alcohol, 0.5% or less.
In addition, I tried two beverages produced by Lyre's. Known as the Mindful Drinking Co., Lyre's crafts varietals of non-alcoholic options to imbibe.
Lyre’s provides an alternative to those who don’t wish to imbibe alcohol and endeavors to ensure that "everyone can enjoy the mirth and merriment of a soiree or shindig." They craft their spirits to taste like the classics they homage. "We source the finest all natural essences, extracts and distillates from the four corners of the globe."
I tried Lyre's canned gin & tonic, which Port served in a glass garnished with grapefruit and a sprig rosemary. I also had Lyre's canned Classico — a non-alcoholic, sparkling white wine. Both were great, and allowed me to drink with the crowd.
Despite being someone who has written professionally about the food & beverage industry for years — mostly across the state of Colorado — I am unfamiliar with non-alcoholic offerings, for the most part. This increasing trend is a new world to me, but it's exciting.
With its upscale offerings but casual atmosphere, I love the canal-facing porch, large yard, warm service and more, Port Winona Wine + Market is a perfect little part of The Village at Winona, and I recommend that both locals and summer visitors alike check it out for a relaxing Indiana evening.

Read moreWhat a cute little gem of a place. I was in there yesturday with my Mom mainly so my Mom that is 83 years old could use the restroom before we started shopping at the stores. Having patients with with your older parents can be rough, even as much as you love them. The owner and I was talking while my Mom was in the restroom and she understood my frustration. Before I knew it, she poured us each a little glass of wine (on the house) and we toasted. What a sweet little touch that she did. It's nice people like that, that will make you return. I definitely WILL be back. I hope her the BEST of luck in her dream of running such a charming little place. ❤️. Thanks...
Read moreVery small but well stocked local wine shop. They also have a few items for sale individually as well as charcuterie boards. Nice porch and outdoor seating with pets welcome in those locations. Inside has very limited seating area .. maybe 2 tables and 3 bar seats. Would have enjoyed our wine flight more had it been delivered simultaneously as our charcuterie board. That said, the wine was as described and lovely along with a beautiful charcuterie board. We especially enjoyed the...
