Another lifelong Hoosier here (for 40+ years) who had never even heard of Winona Lake until about 2 months ago. Just looking for a weekend away from Indy within driving distance, for a relaxing break from home during COVID.||||This B&B is 2 blocks from the village shops/canal, and about 3 to 4 blocks from many points of the lake. Easy walking distance.||||Machelle (the main B&B host) was wonderful to speak with for reservations and even more gracious and hospitable during our stay. She gave helpful recommendations of where to visit/what to do, she offered us use of her personal bicycles to ride around town, and she made the most delicious omelets and mixed fruit for breakfast.||||Our room (the White Oak suite) was spacious and had a nice extra sitting room. Sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer were already in our room, and masks were required when in common areas, for extra precautions.||||So glad we found this locally-owned place instead of staying at a hotel. Would absolutely stay here again, and we definitely recommend it to others interested in visiting Winona Lake/Warsaw. Also found out the town is home to...
Read moreWhere to start? Michelle and Fred are the nicest hosts. We were there for five days around the Fourth of July. Michelle provided the most wonderful breakfast. She even accommodated my husband’s breakfast needs. They were just the loveliest people. ||The home is beautiful, immaculate, and so welcoming. We look forward to returning again and again! If you are concerned about traveling during COVID-19, this is the place to go! The house is sparkling clean. There are wipes and sanitizer in your room and throughout the house. I am a cancer patient and felt completely comfortable and very well taken care of by Michelle and Fred. ||The lake is beautiful! The little village is in walking distance to the house. Grace College is directly across the street and convenient for families and parents who may be visiting. The Amish area is a short 30 minute drive away. Lots to do and enjoy. Don’t miss the ice cream shop with frozen coffee drinks in the village! Michelle and Fred give great recommendations for dinner! We just can’t say enough...
Read moreThe 5 star rating for this B &B is well-deserved. Machelle is a wonderful host and makes you feel right at home. The decor is meticulous Arts & Crafts style and beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. Our spacious room had a fireplace, very comfortable bed and bedding. The bathroom was well-appointed with a jetted soaking tub/shower and fluffy towels. Machelle checked on our breakfast time and selections when we arrived, took us to our room and made sure we understood the operation of everything in our room, including the wi-fi. She was very accomodating of my dietary needs for breakfast and made our breakfasts to order, which were perfect. We enjoyed lively conversation with another couple over breakfast and were joined by Machelle at the end, who gave us tips on places that interested us. We had time to visit the spice shop a couple blocks away, which was lovely. We will be back in better weather to enjoy Lake Winona. Great place to stay - far better...
