The last two times I’ve attempted to eat at Light Rail Cafe have been less than ideal. When I tried to eat a meal there with my two toddlers, we all got our food at different times over the span of an hour so I ended up having to get my meal to go as I had an appointment to get to. Today they were out of stock of what we wanted, which is forgivable, but we ended up eating somewhere else. The lunch menu is just tiny so it can be challenging to find something for everyone in the family whenever things are out of stock and options already limited. All in all, forgivable offenses and nothing terrible by any means, but I think I’ll wait until some kinks are worked out before returning as I’m 2 for 2 in leaving the place hungry since they’ve reopened. I really wish the new owner the best of luck as they settle in. I’ll be updating my review when I return. I’m rooting for you and I know it’ll get better with time!
*update!
I’ve since returned and had a great experience! The kinks are worked out. Happy to have this place in...
Read moreThey are under new ownership. We occasionally drive there from about an hour away, this time for an event in the area. We ordered a pizza, salad, and cookies. The cookies were pretty good and buttery, but it was over half an hour before we went to ask why we hadn’t been served our pizza, after we saw people behind us in line get theirs. They said they didn’t have our order and had to remake it. They offered us a brownie, which I can’t have and my gf didn’t want. When she declined they offered to give her the larger salad, which she also didn’t want but agreed to. The pizza was good but not as good as it was before, though it wasn’t the exact same toppings. It’s also possible they rushed it due to losing our order. I don’t think we’ll be making the drive just to eat here anymore. The online website also doesn’t match the actual menu, even though it’s linked to from their Facebook which is getting updates. It was also really loud, and we should have...
Read moreAmazing food. I believe the menu has undergone a little re-vamping since the construction last Summer. Although we did not order it, the pizza appears to have remained the same, which is greats news as it is really good. We got the Lighthouse Cobb, and the Trillium Grilled cheese and we were not disappointed. I personally was not fond of the vinegrette dressing, but it was still a very good salad. The grilled cheese is earthy, sweet, salty, buttery, and cheesy. Everything you could ever want in a grilled cheese. It also comes with Kettle cooked potato chips which appeared to be housemade, and they were excellent! They also have a great variety of coffee offerings. They also offer great coffe! We got a limited-time Vietnamese Cold Brew, and a housemade caramel cappucino. I would highly recommend The Light Rail if you're looking for a light breakfast, lunch or dinner packed with a...
