The last two times I’ve attempted to eat at Light Rail Cafe have been less than ideal. When I tried to eat a meal there with my two toddlers, we all got our food at different times over the span of an hour so I ended up having to get my meal to go as I had an appointment to get to. Today they were out of stock of what we wanted, which is forgivable, but we ended up eating somewhere else. The lunch menu is just tiny so it can be challenging to find something for everyone in the family whenever things are out of stock and options already limited. All in all, forgivable offenses and nothing terrible by any means, but I think I’ll wait until some kinks are worked out before returning as I’m 2 for 2 in leaving the place hungry since they’ve reopened. I really wish the new owner the best of luck as they settle in. I’ll be updating my review when I return. I’m rooting for you and I know it’ll get better with time!

*update!

I’ve since returned and had a great experience! The kinks are worked out. Happy to have this place in...

They are under new ownership. We occasionally drive there from about an hour away, this time for an event in the area. We ordered a pizza, salad, and cookies. The cookies were pretty good and buttery, but it was over half an hour before we went to ask why we hadn’t been served our pizza, after we saw people behind us in line get theirs. They said they didn’t have our order and had to remake it. They offered us a brownie, which I can’t have and my gf didn’t want. When she declined they offered to give her the larger salad, which she also didn’t want but agreed to. The pizza was good but not as good as it was before, though it wasn’t the exact same toppings. It’s also possible they rushed it due to losing our order. I don’t think we’ll be making the drive just to eat here anymore. The online website also doesn’t match the actual menu, even though it’s linked to from their Facebook which is getting updates. It was also really loud, and we should have...

Amazing food. I believe the menu has undergone a little re-vamping since the construction last Summer. Although we did not order it, the pizza appears to have remained the same, which is greats news as it is really good. We got the Lighthouse Cobb, and the Trillium Grilled cheese and we were not disappointed. I personally was not fond of the vinegrette dressing, but it was still a very good salad. The grilled cheese is earthy, sweet, salty, buttery, and cheesy. Everything you could ever want in a grilled cheese. It also comes with Kettle cooked potato chips which appeared to be housemade, and they were excellent! They also have a great variety of coffee offerings. They also offer great coffe! We got a limited-time Vietnamese Cold Brew, and a housemade caramel cappucino. I would highly recommend The Light Rail if you're looking for a light breakfast, lunch or dinner packed with a...

I used to love this place and went here 2 to 3 times a week but my last several trips here have been not so great. Ownership made some changes and the coffee really went downhill to the point the decaf wasn't drinkable, their online ordering system either doesn't work or didn't put my order through the one time it did work. They keep closing earlier and earlier. This morning I walked in there for breakfast 20 minutes before they switched to lunch and the manager informed everyone in line they wouldn't be able to order breakfast because the line was too long. They have good food when you can get it but it's just been too much hassle and frustration going there lately. Updated to add that the last several times the breakfast has been burnt/overcooked. Biscuits, bacon, quiche, and baked goods are really overdone. I keep hoping but it isn't getting better.

We loved this place! I have never had a restaurant bring me a more beautiful salad. The fire roasted pizza was amazing and we look forward to trying all the options. We also got a sandwich that I think was the most delicious sandwich that I have ever had! We were amazed at how affordable it was but I think it's because they don't have waitresses and they don't bus your table. But that's okay with us because the food was so amazing and affordable and sometimes a waitress can just interrupt the flow of conversation. we never needed anyone to bring us anything anyway. I got a craft beer that was really good and they offer it as a half a pilsner so you don't have to fill up on beer.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING I'm visiting from out of town and have gone there 3 times now. Recommendation: Pizza The white prosciutto pizza is my favorite. Ingredients taste so fresh and the crust is amazing. Strawberry Basil Muffin: I have no words for this muffin. It is so incredible that it defys logic. It is PERFECTLY cooked, so moist and just a slight hint of fresh basil that leaves you wanting more. The strawberry flavor is fresh and understated, no synthetic flavor. I can't believe I have to wait another year (when I visit family again) to eat one of these muffins. I need a box shipped to North Carolina STAT.
