Great food. Had prime rib and tasted so good. Chef cooked well, baked sweet potato and a lemon drop martini. All that was ordered was good. Would go back again. My cousin and I go out to the Boathouse once a month, and since I hadn't seen her in a while I drove up to Warsaw to go to the Boathouse, in which both of us love. Tasty food, great service, just all around a very nice restaurant. BUT, on Sunday 8/17 was not a good day to go. The waiter Eder was rude, hardly ever saw him and when we did he flew by asking how everything was. I order 14 oz prime rib (love the PR) and asked to have it pink and he said medium (& I can't assume he knew what he was doing) veggies, and a side salad that was $1.50 extra??? I salad was great, and so were the veggies. I ordered a Sip Rasp Martini and I got it after I had eaten half my meal, because I asked where is my martini. Now any good waiter or waitress would have been on their toes, but apparently this was not Eder's day to be working. When my martini arrived it was not filled to the brim and he stated it the recipe of a Margarita made into a Martini. I know the best bartenders to do just about anything with liquor. The waiter Eder argued with me regarding that martini. And, he was not going to budge. 'Well the bartender is new at his job'. I really didn't care, that it needed to be filled. And, what did Eder do, nothing. I told him to just go. Sorry to say this is not the end of what Eder did. Charged my account twice $51.90 for my dinner and my cousin's dinner was half the price. She didn't even get a receipt. I guess that is what happens when you are not paying attention or revenge. I went for the manager, told her what went on, she apologized, stated she would have a word with him, refunded my second charge of $51.90. My cousin's bill was taken care of properly. I was going to leave him a tip but after getting charged twice for the same meal, and the excuse over the martini, AND, the horrible service we received, he received zero tip for both of us. Eder, if you don't like waiting tables, serving food/drinks, get another job. I think maybe a bank teller would be good for you. Finance. Start from the bottom and work your way up.
Will my cousin and I return to the Boathouse, of course we will. Good food, nice atmosphere, good drinks, even the...
Read moreWe stopped here on our way back from Tippy Creek Winery (very good). I ordered a Bloody Mary but sent it back. It was two parts water, two parts tomato juice and had absolutely no flavor. I didn't bother asking for another and the lemonade that took its place was quite good. For starters, the spinach queso was better than average with homemade chips and a generous portion. For dinner I had the top sirloin with rice and garlic green beans. The 10oz sirloin was dry and bland. Seasoning of any kind was severely lacking. I ended up forking some green beans and then a piece of steak just to get some flavor. Speaking of the green beans, they were fantastic!! Among the best I can remember. Aaaand that's it. The green beans were the best thing of the whole meal. The rice, too, was bland and devoid of flavor. The atmosphere was typical for an average establishment. The interior decor was screaming for change. For a restaurant called the "Boathouse" there was no nautical theme whatsoever. Getting back in touch with a boathouse and/or nautical theme would be a huge improvement, if done right. Adding touches showcasing the rich history of the lakes around the area would establish a local history theme people would relate to. With better choices in the area, I doubt we...

However, the main dish that I ordered, a salad, should not have been that difficult to do. I could have ordered something else but felt comfortable more so with this at that time. The NY strip on top was flavorless, tough, threaded with tough fat twine, and definitely not quality from local farms. It was the smallest piece of beef I've seen, lucky if it was nearly 2 oz., and appeared microwaved in color.
They also served this large salad with a colossal fork and knife as if those would make it easier to eat or to appear that you're getting a lot of food. There are salad forks for a reason; they pick up the salad because they have pointier spikes. Lettuce needs this utensil and thus, I could hardly poke the salad to ger it to my mouth. Shoveling is not an option. There was 1/2 of a boiled egg, again, flavorless. I only ate barely a quarter and went home hungry.
The service was kind and good!
I will go back if they want to meet there again but will need to eat beforehand. I didn't say anything out of respect to...
