So unfortunate, but this place has definitely fallen off. We ordered the Thai Roasted Chicken which had been a favorite of ours. The first time we had it about two years ago, we were floored that it was so delicious. We thought it was the best roasted chicken we'd ever had. The sticky rice that comes with it was uniquely sticky and tasty. Over the last couple of years, we'd order the same Thai Roasted Chicken and each time it did not disappoint. We talked about how we'd bring friends from out of town here after the pandemic.
Tonight however, was a big miss for Thai Harmony. The Thai Roasted Chicken was bland and extremely dry. My husband aptly said, when you have to drench the chicken in sauce, that's a problem. We never had to do that before. No sauce was needed because the chicken was well seasoned and crispy enough to stand on its own. But tonight, it tasted like a rotisserie chicken from a grocery store, warmed over. We also ordered Pad See Ew (wide noodles) which is a favorite of mine. I order this at every Thai restaurant we go to, so I'm familiar with how it's supposed to taste. This was not it! The sauce was way too sweet and the noodles overly peppered. It varied from the traditional taste of Pad See Ew entirely too much.
Thai Harmony is on the pricier side for a Thai restaurant so we expect the food to be excellent. Unfortunately, tonight it was not. And it was so far off, that we'll be striking Thai Harmony from the rotation. It was good for a while and we'll remember when it was at its best. Hopefully, other diners will continue to have a better experience than we did, but they won't likely get another chance with us....
Read moreThe Thai Harmony Experience (Dine In Edition). I have danced around with the idea of dining here and decided to try them out. Thai Harmony is in a great downtown location where the parking is not that bad. The decor is nice, but the windows could stand a cleaning. But, after all, it's downtown, and you want to enjoy the downtown scenery if you get a window seat. The bathroom is in a common shared space outside of the restaurant, but it was clean.
So I ordered their Bento Box General Tso Chicken with rice, spring roll, and house salad. I had an option with my meal to get a spring roll or soup, and I selected a spring roll. The spring roll came out before the Bento, and it was tasty. Unfortunately, someone in the kitchen decided for me that I wanted sauce on my spring roll. So when the server brought it to the table, it had sauce on the top. I prefer to dip, but it worked. It took a good while for the Bento Box to come out.
The General Tso Chicken had a unique taste and was very tasty. The spring roll in the box did not have any sauce on it, which I appreciated. The rice was ok, and the salad for me was inedible. I am a lover of ginger but felt like Thai Harmony need a lighter salad dressing or options for customers to select. The service was ok so no complaints there. So that leaves the last question if I would return or not. In honesty, other establishments in the Winston Salem downtown area offer Asian cuisine that is cheaper, more favorable, and less wait-time than Thai Harmony. I am all about a good meal deal with busting flavors. I only ate two spring rolls and the chicken that...
Read moreCame here while I attended a conference for work. My coworkers and I wanted walking distance from the hotel so we headed to Mellow Mushroom that had a long line. We walked 2 streets over and saw a place called Thai Harmony. It wasn't crowded when we walked in. We were greeted by the workers and they asked us for our drinks within 5 minutes of getting there. They are accommodating to us moving to another table as I didn't like the first table we were sitting at. The waitress was super nice and gave great customer service. Our food came out rather quickly within 15-20 minutes. I ordered the shrimp green curry and it came with either miso soup or a spring roll. I got the spring roll. Two of my coworkers ordered drunken noodles (one with shrimp and one with beef). My other two coworkers got the 2 sushi rolls lunch plates. The food was ok, served its purpose of subsiding my hunger. The green curry was 2 notches too spicy for me and the lady didn't ask me how hot I wanted it. It would've been nice to have more bamboo shoots in it but the flavor was there. I've eaten green curry in several places and this one was just ok. I tried some of the drunken noodles and that too was just ok. Same goes with the sushi that I tried. We did order a drink that never came and the waitress did apologize. Customer service was a 9/10 food was about a 7/10 lunch prices...
