PAELLA RESTAURANT IN WINTER PARK, CO IS ONE OF THE WORST I’VE BEEN TO IN A LONG TIME, AND I EAT OUT A LOT, SINCE I AM TRAVELING OVER 50% OF MY TIME. I usually don't post reviews; however, after eating in this restaurant, I felt compelled to do so. Myself, along with my wife and another couple had dinner at Paellas Restaurant, and unfortunately, we were disappointed with the management and the food. First, to be fair, the young lady waiting on us was great, very courthouses and attentive. The restaurant was somewhat empty, there were only two other couples present, and no one else showed up during our stay (approximately from 6 pm to 8 pm). Once we were in our sits, the young lady brought us a basket of bread, and after a few minutes we ordered our food. Each couple ordered a Paella Mediterranean (way overpriced at $34+ but did not mind paying if it was as good as advertised), along with a large salad, soup, wine, and other items. While we were waiting for the main courses, a middle-aged man, who appeared to be the manager, approached our table and very brusquely asked if we wanted more bread (we thought that perhaps he was upset at the waitress for not offering more bread), we said yes, thank you. A few minutes later he delivered the bread. We never saw him the rest of the night. When the Paellas finally arrived, the portion was unusually small, which may be fine, if this is normal for them. The thing that bothered us was that it was very salty, the rice was hard, somewhat watery, and really it seemed like they just threw together undercooked rice, with various pieces of seafood, chicken, pork and other items. I am Spanish, and often eat Paella at Spanish restaurants within the US, as well as in good restaurants in Spain (I say good, because even in Spain one can find "bad" Paella), as I travel there often, and know what a good Paella should be like. The couple of other things that bothered us was that we were charged for the second basket of bread; the $5 itself for the few pieces of bread was not a problem, but the fact that the man did not say there would be an extra charge when he offered more bread was, as we felt deceived. Lasty, they automatically added a 20% gratuity, which we found unusual since we were only four at the table. The gratuity itself was not an issue because we would have left at least this much anyway, but the fact that they forced it on us was a surprise. The experience would have been much better if the management had been more honest and sincere, rather than trying to make a few extra bucks by trying to be deceitful. Due to their dishonesty, overpriced items, plus low-quality cooking, we would not go back there, nor recommend...
Read moreDon't worry about leaving a tip, they give themselves a generous 20% automatically on all tables regardless of size, and then still leave a line for another tip just in case you'd like to tip them 40%. I did not see the small print at the bottom of the menu stating that they would do this, so I left an additional 20%. When I got home, I realized what had happened and called them. They said they would credit me back the extra tip, but after one week I have not recieved such a credit, so that was a lie. $56 on top of the $41 they already gave themselves, down the toilet. When I called, they said the manager was not there. On a busy Saturday evening of a Holiday weekend. Also a lie. They told me that the manager would call me back the next day, but guess what? nope. Also a lie. Yes, the automatic 20% tip is mentioned in the small print, but it's easy to miss. The food was okay, but very, very expensive. Also, you want more than one round of water? $6. Our Party of two adults and one minor spent $12 on water. Do yourself a favor and skip this mediocre tourist trap and go across the street to Alchemy Pizza. Excellent quality, fair pricing and super friendly folks in a fun environment. Heck, I'd rather eat at Fraser Valley Hot Dogs. Their Chilli dogs are very tasty and they didn't even lie to me or try to rip me off! I enjoy going out for an excellent meal and realize that it comes at a price, but I've never been ripped off like...
Read moreMy husband and I loved this restaurant. They were fairly busy when we went but we were seated immediately and attended to. Our food came out within minutes, exceptionally fast. And the staff is so nice and really make you feel important. We were treated like VIPs. We love to try new places when traveling and we have never had better service anywhere. It was phenomenal. On to the food: also amazingly good and authentic Spanish cuisine. We had the ceviche which was so delicious and probably our favorite. We also got the scallops appetizer and it was very fresh and tasty. For our main course, my husband and I shared the Lomito Paella, which is angus tenderloins with rice and asparagus. It was cooked to perfection, exactly how we requested. We had the flan for desert but I forgot to get a picture because we ate it so fast. Hands down would recommend eating here when in or near Winter Park. You won’t regret it. For our 2 appetizers, 2 cocktails, and main course our bill was around $115, which is also very well priced for what you get.
Update: we ate here 3 nights in a row. The food is so good and service so excellent that we didn’t want to eat anywhere else. We got the lamb chops twice and it is heaven on a plate. We also got the other steak meal (with potatoes and fried leeks) at the recommendation of our server and thought it...
