What history when Friday night me and friends like Pepe’s but Friday was no good The person who was assigning the table was on the cell phone yelling into the phone and asked him for a table, everything was normal until then I saw that there was a much more comfortable table and i asked the waitress if we could move tables which The very professional waitress told us that there was no problem. The only thing she told me was that I could put things away while she came back with something to clean it, which I didn't see any problem with. I put the menus and drinks on the table while the waitress came back. with something to clean.. at that moment the same person who was talking super hard on the phone came out and with an attitude told me, shouting in front of customers that that table was not ready and that it had to be cleaned, anyway I explained to him that the waitress told me she said it was okay to change my place and he continued yelling. I told him that he would respect me and that if he had to tell me something that was not the way to yell, especially in front of people, and his response was, I'm the manager, brother! One, I am not his brother and it is much more disrespectful to call me that because I am his client and another, this person does not know how to treat clients or employees since a waitress came to clean the table and in front of me he yelled at her because The lady didn't clean the way he wanted! He continued fighting me, I told him what kind of manager he was, he doesn't know how to treat a client or an employee, he told me that he was a super manager but in reality he is not, Mr. Manager!! manager into a leader who follows his team through thick and thin! After that, a lady who was at the front table told us that the manager was yelling at the waitresses in front of everyone! My dear Pepes owners, some advice: teach and train this person how to treat a customer and employees! teach him to be a...
Read moreOverall, I give Pepe's Cantina a 5/5. We were a party of 4 and we sat outside by the bar and everything was delightful, from the food to the drinks to the atmosphere.
We were started off with chips and salsa, which was more of your traditional restaurant-style dip that had a little bit of heat to it, but not too much. I am kinda picky when it comes to chips and salsa (I say that, but will also eat too many even if they're not the best lol), but I did really really enjoy these chips and salsa.
We ordered the Queso Fundido for the table, which only came with 3 tortillas, but we made do with the extra chips that they brought to the table (at our request). The Queso was absolutely divine and had such good pull to it - like you see in all the commercials - when you can pull the cheese forever and ever. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the experience.
We also ordered the Signature Tableside Guacamole, which was made right by the table, and it was very fresh and light (sadly, I was so distracted by the cheese that I forgot to take a picture of the guacamole).
For an entrée, I ordered the Birria Tacos and the texture and taste were perfect. The Birria was tender, with a little bit of heat and an amazingly crafted blend of spices. They came with a dipping sauce, which was also very flavorful and not overpowering.
I drank only water, but a couple of my friends ordered cocktails and they had only good things to say about them!...
Read moreI have been a big fan of Pepe’s ever since I learned about the vegan menu. I have come to celebrate every special event here (birthdays, dates, anniversaries, etc). That being said, I would brag to all of my friends (vegan or otherwise) about how awesome it is to have a vegan Mexican food spot that still tastes incredible and tastes as authentic as possible (bias on my partner being Mexican).
My most recent visit (2 days ago) I came to learn that the menu was completely changed and the vegan cheese was discontinued. Moreover, the prices on the menu were raised. Removing ingredients and increasing price.. something does not add up here. Already having a rough day and then getting hit with this blow was enough to ruin my appetite. Despite this, I still ordered and ate and kept my qualms to myself for the sake of the party I was with.
At the end of the meal, I asked the General Manager about the changes and he apologized for my unhappiness. He did offer to drop off a gift at my place of employment and to just text him the address. I never received a text back. So alas, I don’t think I’ll be returning to Pepe’s unless the menu was changed for the better.
At the end of the day, food was still good - just not how it was. The service was good - they just seemed a little in the weeds. The atmosphere - still good I was just really dampened by...
