I hate giving low stars because I love the food and the management here and the manager on shift was so kind and deserves a raise for her poise and this is not a reason to not try this restaurant out. The server I had on 07/03/24 during the lunch shift sort of ruined the experience I so hoped my grandmothers 68th birthday would be allotted. She has red-ish short almost pixie cut hair unfortunately never received her name. During the meal she wasn't very attentive and consistently never brought condiments or silverware or even drinks from an empty bar until maybe 15 min or had to ask anyone else even after we asked multiple times, sometimes mid sentence she would just disappear. However, we took no notice and just enjoyed our time. My whole family split the bill to cover my grandmothers birthday meal and when doing so I was going to tip her in cash. When I gave her my card she proceeded to make a nasty face at the fact I hadn't tipped her(when I was just about to) she then huffs and walks away mid process off checking my family out leaving all of us confused (all who tipped her 20% on their separate checks). She purposefully printed an itemized receipt after receiving the previous one expressing oh so rudely that gratuity isn't included and belligerently saying I didn't tip her. I proceeded to say excuse me I was getting cash that's very rude to exclaim around my family and other guests. She then added fuel to the fire by speaking out of turn with snippy comments like "no one has EVER had a problem with that" and comments on the fact that I too also have worked in the food industry and she doesn't "understand" how I wouldn't get that. She even left the table and came back sarcastically apologizing to make fun at the situation when I would have let it go if it ended at im sorry. Since she kept arguing even after i just let it go and i just left it be, I asked for her manager and exclaimed and huffed "are you kidding me" after making rude comments entirely while checking us out. She never went to her manager and just started loudly talking poorly about me in the very open kitchen. When I found the extremely kind and sweet manager she handled it with grace and sincerely is a wonderful face to the restaurant. Once she realized I found the manager she pretended to show face and beam a smile and be kind saying "here's my manager!" something we missed entirely during our dining experience. But I just wanted to leave this here because her attitude is unacceptable and brings down the restaurant. My family and friends have had her before too and have also had not the best experience and hopefully her attitude changes for the betterment of future experiences. Beyond that the food and the service of other servers are wonderful and truly hope it gets better...
Read moreWent here on a Saturday and was able to snag a reservation at 8pm. Parking was not too difficult by taking the Chuy's parking garage next door. Upon arriving, I was seated immediately to a communal table. The drink menu was right on it while I had to scan a barcode to display the food menu on my phone. My service suggested in having the winter park tequila drink (12 dollars) for the cocktail, which I was told was similar to a watermelon margarita. I decided to go with his advise. However, didn't taste any watermelon, but it was still a fruity drink. I wonder if he confused it with strawberries, which was shown as the ingredient in the menu. It could have used a bit more tequila, as it was a bit lighter drink for 12 dollars. Though, it was a delicious and refreshing drink. For my entree, I first thought about getting the trout, but decided on the chardonnay cheeseburger (17 dollars) and substituted the broccolini instead of the potato that came with it. I wasn't asked how well I wanted it, but it came after 15 to 20 minutes. The pattie looked medium to medium well, but still has some good juiciness in it. The cheese melted nicely with the burger. The only veggie I saw was a tomato, but it was nice and fresh. I didn't see or taste the mayo that was advertised. Overall, the burger could have been a bit more juicy and flavorful, but still was decent. However, the star of the dish was actually the broccolini. It was perfectly charred and had a good crunch and a charred flavor. I savored every bite of it. Unfortunately, the ran out of the cheesecake that I wanted for dessert, and I didn't really see anything else that appetized my sweet tooth, so directly asked for the bill afterwards. When given my bill, I noticed an extra 2.50 charge for the side substitution that wasn't explained to me in advance, nor displayed in the menu. When pointed out, my server did apologize and offered to take it out of my bill, which I politely confirmed.
The service was quite friendly and helpful. My server was able to provide good suggestions and quick to provide updates. When he saw me sad that the cheesecake was sold out, he provided some recommend alternatives. The atmosphere is quite hip and a bit upscale, with a wine bar in front and a show kitchen in the back. It can get loud, but you can still hear the chillaxin lounge music in the background. This place can get popular during the weekends, so it is best to get a reservation.
Overall, this place is a nice addition in the winter park area. Next time I visit, will definitely try the trout and chicken as well, and reserve the...
Read moreMy daughter and I were eager to enjoy a pleasant lunch at Sixty Vines last Saturday, as she had been craving their pasta dish. Despite only visiting once before, our previous experience was decent enough to warrant a return. However, our recent visit left us deeply disappointed.
Upon arriving at noon, we found the restaurant to be far from full, with most occupied tables situated to the left behind the bar. Instead of a warm greeting, we were met with blatant rudeness from the hostess, who inquired about reservations in a manner that bordered on hostility. Despite politely confirming that we did not have reservations, we were met with disdainful looks and curtly informed of a 20-25 minute wait. Both my daughter and I have worked in the restaurant business and understand the possibility of being short staffed but this was not something that was communicated to us.
When I asked about the possibility of sitting outside, hoping to enjoy the nice weather, I was cut off in the middle of speaking and told that it was "upon availability". It's common practice for restaurants with outdoor seating to accommodate such requests, even with a longer wait. However, we were denied this option without any consideration.
Feeling increasingly frustrated by the treatment we received, we opted to wait outside. As I reflected on the situation, my initial irritation turned to anger. Since when did hostesses at restaurants adopt such unwelcoming attitudes? Isn't it still socially acceptable to enjoy a spontaneous lunch outing with your daughter without reservations?
As a professional in the technology industry, I cannot fathom treating customers with such disrespect. My daughter and I both were trained in our hospitality days to have the utmost respect for every customer. I left Sixty Vines with the firm decision never to return, and I've made it a point to share my experience with everyone I know. The last straw was the wait was actually 45 minutes by the time we received the text saying our table was ready. There was no communication about the added time. We left without eating and found a friendly restaurant just down the street.
In summary, the rude behavior of the hostess and the lack of basic customer service have left a lasting negative impression. Potential patrons should be aware of the disappointing treatment they might encounter...
